In the Complete Mage book, there is a prestige class known as The Master Specialist. At seventh level, if you are an illusionist, you gain and ability known as, 'Moderate School Escoterica,' which gives you, and I quote, 'Illusion: You gain concealment.'

It does not specify an ammount. Does this simply mean I can hide at any time, and I recieve no miss chance?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

In 3.5, concealment exists in two "modes", provided you have it: Concealment (the 20% one), and Total Concealment (the 50% one with other rules attached).

Cover is similar: assuming you have cover, you have either Cover, or Total Cover.

This is to simplify the whole process that images like that annoying cover one in the 3.0 PHB were supposed to help with. (You know, the one with the orcs (or something) in a cave, with stalactites/stalagmites?)

I know that this has nothing to do with your question, Caspain, and I'm really sorry but I have no idea how to make new threads.:(

I just wanted to say that I am looking for help from someone who is pretty good and this D and D thing and that has a lot of patience.;)

I a newbie about this game and today I went to a club just because my friend told me I should and that I'd love it. So I was all supportive and agreed to go. Now, I've caught the bug. This game is hell-a fun! I love it! I love RPing on Neopets and with this D and D, I can do it in real life. The bad part is...I have no idea how to play, how to decide stats for my charrie and other such questions. Basically, I am looking for someone who is willing to take on a apprentice.

If I had more time, I'd take you on (Fifth-year physics student, robotics labs, and teaching undergrad physics labs takes out a chunk of your time). I've taught D&D to about two dozen people. The best advice I can give in the meantime, though, is to go to the club you're talking about, and ask one of the DMs there to train you. It's not as complicated as you think, and you'll learn the people you'll be playing with.

(For reference, stats are USUALLY decided with either rolling dice, or by spending a set number of points. Other stats come from your choices in-game, such as your character's race or class combinations. More exact details can be found by speaking to the DM you'll be playing under.)

So what you are saying is that I'd have 20% concealment because it doesn't say Total Concealment? That's all fine and dandy, too bad I'm already a Shadowcraft Mage of second level which gives me 25% concealment.

Thanks for your help.

PS: I don't mind the thread-jacking, at least you were told how to avoid it next time. ^..^ Good luck!

PPS: If you view they way my question was answered another way, don't hesitate to add.

That and Moderate School Esoterica is further limited:

Each ability it triggered automatically when you cast a spell of your chosen school and lasts for a number of rounds equal to the spell's level.

So the duration is lousy, for the most part. :/

Though this 20% would work in daylight, unlike cloak of shadow.
