I'd like to conduct some DnD combat testing. I'll only be using core material to start.

I'll be using miniatures and a variety of maps. I'd like to use typical groups of four adventurers each. Each group will go through a number of outdoor(open) and indoor(enclosed) encounters. Each character will be single class and individually tailored for it's level and companions.

I'm going to be running tests for each level, and I'd like to test each of the 11 classes at least twice (with different companions each test), if not more, for each level.

My question is, what combinations should I test, and how many combats should I run them through? Should I tailor the encounters or roll on the random encounter tables in the DMG?
