greatamericanfolkhero 07-06-07, 08:15 PM	I currently have a player playing a Warblade, and one of the Maneuvers that he knows is Iron Heart Surge. It ends conditions with "a duration of 1 or more rounds". My question is this: Is ability Damage that did not come from a spell considered to to have "a duration of 1 or more rounds"? I assume yes and ruled that he could get rid of it, but I just wanted to be sure.
ieattrollsforbreakfast 07-06-07, 08:33 PM	I would rule that if it didn't come from a spell or other effect that would cause ability damage which would heal when the effect's duration expires, it wouldn't go away. Ability damage is damage afterall, not a condition. The damage can be caused by a condition (PHB 304), but it itself is not. So the duration isn't this issue here. Ability damage, like hit point damage, doesn't have a duration, it just heals back at a constant rate. For example, Iron Heart Surge could remove the continuous acid damage from Melf's Acid Arrow, but it doesn't heal damage already taken. Or, Iron Heart Surge would probably halt continuous hp loss from a wounding weapon, but it wouldn't heal back the damage from previous rounds.
