The 8th Samurai 07-08-05, 07:45 AM	The normal mods for an opposed grapple check is: BAB + Str mod + special size mod. In CW pg. 104 in the description for Ranged Pin states "You must succeed on a ranged attack (not a ranged touch attack) and then win an opposed grapple check (your size modifier and the target's size modifiers still apply). To break free, the victim must make a DC 15 Strength check or a DC 15 Escape Artist check as a standard action." It doesn't state any other changes to the grapple check. I would think with this being a ranged attack, the opposed grapple check would be: BAB + Dex mod + special size mod. The victim could still use Str or Dex mod as normal. Which would you use for the Ranged Pin grapple check: Str or Dex?
J Milburn 07-08-05, 02:03 PM	I would use strength. The RAW suggest you should, and logically i think str works just a little better than dex in this situation.
