Senko 04-06-06, 02:24 AM	As the title say's I'm not sure how to get here from the site now and have to rely on the notifications about updates to topics I've posted in. Can someone tell me where they moved the forums link?

I wonder why though. This makes two bookmarks which lead to sites where certain links don't get displayed at all but when I type in the address they do. Oh well I'll have to look somewhere else for answers then thanks for the help.

I ask only because my Firefox does not like to keep the cookie from this site anymore, and you may be experiencing a similar problem.

As for the browser question I also use firefox and if that's what's causing problems it wouldn't surprise I've had several. In fact it just closed itself down when I first tried to type a reply to this topic. Again thanks for the help I may well take some of these suggestions.
meatrace 04-07-06, 04:38 AM	haha, firefox. you know, for all the people that swear by it I hear so many complaints about it. i'm hardly a microsoft junkie, but I've not had any problems at all with IE. at least not since I got my google bar a few years ago.
Senko 04-07-06, 06:39 AM	Ahhh well I don't actually swear by firefox but my postgrad lecturer did (something about better coding or the like) and she told us we should use it for our assignments (web pages design) because its what she'd be using to view them. We wouldn't lose marks for testing it with IE but apparently certain coding designs could work in Firefox that wouldn't with IE (or something like that) and so I switched. Since I'm the kind of person who doesn't change unless they need to (no longer able to use the old system, been told to switch for class, developed an allergy, magical change of sex or whatever reason you choose no matter how ridiuclous as long as it provides a motivation to change and has really happend [scratch the allergy and magic examples although they could be fun]) I've stuck with it ever since inspite of the problems. Now if it crashed and stopped working entirely like my last laptop then and only then would I move back to IE even though its had a more consistent record (aside from a weird tendency it seemed to have for visting government sites, I'd find new bookmarks for things like the CIA, DEA, ASIO and get emails seeing that due to the results of an investigation my password had been reinsted for places like the Australian medical database. Firefox seems to have signed my up in some russion company as I keep recieving progress reports and the like from them according to an aquaintance who translated one of the emails for me).
Feor 04-07-06, 12:28 PM	Internet Explorer's main issue is with security, it's a fairly easy to exploit browser which can cause alot of security problems on your computer. Firefox isn't inherently bad, but it's very... primative. It's free so they don't feel the need to put as much work into as they do for Mozilla. So it ends up being very close to bare bones. I understand that with the appropriate plug-ins it can be made to pass muster, but in it's raw form it's somewhat bland. I personally use Opera. (www.opera.com) Until recently you had to pay for it, which hurt it's popularity somewhat, but led to it being a very professional browser, with alot of features not found in either IE or FF which I like. I deffinetly suggest that everyone go and download it, if at least just to give it a try. Everyone I've directed to it so far has been blown away and happily switched from whatever they were using.
