| Rico_Huerta02-11-08, 04:11 PM | My cleric is a LN Cleric of Hextor, but channels good energy(other party members wanted healing...I gave in b/c no one seems to understand that I am more than a healer... how naive). Anyway, I was wondering if there is anyway to control/command undead in a permanent manner without using Control Undead. Control Undead seems to not be a long enough duration for permanent control over strong undead. So, what are my options for controlling undead as a positive energy channeler? |
| DefenderofFuture02-12-08, 03:20 AM | First of all, the energy you channel is dependent on your DEITY, not your alignment (see pg. 32-33 of PH 3.5). So any cleric who is a cleric of Hextor is going to have to channel NEGATIVE energy. Unless your DM has house rules altering this, looks like you're casting "inflict" spells. If your friends want you to be a good healer, you're going to have to prepare them ahead of time and cast "inflict" spells during combat. If your DM's allowing it, with your initial setup, I believe the "Control Undead" spell is the only thing you're going to be able to use. The Command Undead ability is there for a reason. Turning undead is very useful for every situation involving undead OTHER than controlling them. Btw, don't knock healers. Good Cleric is my favorite class. |
| Rico_Huerta02-12-08, 03:57 PM | ok...I guess I missed that part. I wasn't meaning to knock healers, only comment that my group doesn't know that clerics can do much more than just heal. |
