Hi All

Is anyone aware of a .pdf booklet on how to do this? I bought the 3ed PHB, DMG, MHB and Monsters of Faerun, but our gaming group all decided that we didnt like it so we are going back to D&D, 1EDAD&D and 2EDAD&D. Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

The systems are too different from eachother to have an easy, universal translation method.

Thanks KurenaiYami, I just thought there might have been a .PDF booklet showing how it can be backward engineered to basic D&D, the same way that it can be forward engineered from 2NDEDAD&D to 3RDEDD&D.

If anyone comes up with a way to do the conversion, can they let me know I would be extremely grateful.

Cheers

I'd guess all the creatures in the PHB, DMG, MM, and Mosters of Faerun are already around in 2ed someplace.

Although there is a conversion guide it isn't very exact and really doesn't work well going backwards. Even with the guide you're normally best off to just rebuild using the old version as a guide.

Use the golden rule for OD&D: Make **** up on the fly, consistency be damned.

After all, one of the biggest design changes between 3e and earlier editions is that 3e uses consistent, regular, logical mechanics for everything that can easily be adjucated, while earlier editions relied almost exclusively on DM fiat. If you're more comfortable with earlier editions, then you are no doubt comfortable with DM improvisation.
