Converting Proficiency Check (2ed) to Skill Check DC (3ed) [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-14-06, 12:37 PM Guys, I need help converting some mechanics from old AD&D to D&D 3ed. I need a formula to convert old ability/proficiency check to Skill/Ability Check DC. If I'm no mistaken, the probability of success of the check increases differently with the ability/skill/proficiency growth in this systems. Has anybody faced the same problem?

06-14-06, 03:46 PM There is not single formula that will work. Proficiency success and Skill DC are only conceptually the parallel. Rather than convert via formula, compare tasks and set your skill level appropriately.
