Check the 3e CR of the monsters used in the adventure.
That will tell you the relative 3e equivalent level of the adventure.

You'll probably want to tone down the treasure a bit.

thats great advice, thank you.

I'm still looking for something comprehensive, is there a faq or template somewhere for converting second edition adventures?

Re: FAQ or Template...

Probably, but not likely to be worth the time or hassle.

To convert an adventure, just check the power of the monsters and watch the treasure level. Traps have DCs that you can make up on the fly. Not much more is needed.

Unless you are going to do Dragon Mountian.

Been working on that for about a month, and am only 1/2 way thru the seccond book.

There seem to be some creatures that no longer exist. So with those you will have to make your best guess.

Ouch I feel for you buddy. Dragon Mountian is one huge adventure to convert. What creatures are you having problems finding?

There are several unique monsters provided in the books. Best thing to do I find is either juts eyeball it or use the 2nd - 3.0 conversion and update to 3.5.

Meh. Dragon Mountain will be comparitively quick to convert (I've started myself but other quests have taken priority); the last round on conversion I did was for Vecna Lives!/Vecna Reborn/Die Vecna Die!; the final word document ran to over a hundred pages (and I ended up doing DVD!'s trick of having a master stat list rather than trying to do it by encounter!)

By comparsion Dragon Mountain will be MUCH faster (plus I'll have a lot of leeway; the party I'll be running for is higher level and kick-arse hard after doing Vecna (in both the sense of 'the quests' and 'him in'), so the Kobolds will definately not be an average of 1st level (more like 7-8th I feel, plus 12-16th level 'bosses'!)
