| bingers02-07-04, 08:21 AM | Is there any way I can conver a version two character to version three? I have just finished a game with a version two character and have offers to join other games, but i would like to keep my current character going. I have been told by some of the DMs that if I convert my character I can use him in their adventures but that I have to do it on my own. Is it a case of starting from scratch or can I just copy over the numbers. I only have access to the version 2 PHB so any assisstance would be most helpful. Thank you. |

The conversion manual is available here: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/conversionbook.zip By rights you really ought to get hold of a 3rd Edition PH. A 3.5 PH would be even better but 3.0 will get you by. You are going to HAVE to have one to be able to choose the feats and skills your converted character should have - unless you have the 3.0 PH memorized. You could also use the SRD at http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/srd.html instead of the PH but it's a darn poor substitute for having a hardcopy. As to how easy the conversion will be it depends a LOT on the specifics of your character. A single-class fighter is easy. Multiclass characters with kits will take some work. Characters created using a lot of house rules and very campaign-specific abilities are toughest of all. |
