Just curious if anyone has gotten Tearing of the Weave and what they think. I am thinking about getting it.

There's something you could call a review up at http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=191643.
If you find any others, let me know. I'm considering getting it too.

After reading several comments on the debate of "Sourcebooks vs. Super-Modules" I was keeping an open mind about it. I run 95% published modules so the super-module works for me. In addition, one of my favorite regions in FR is Cormyr so BONUS!

I recieved my copy in the mail yesterday and began reading it. I am really dissapointed. I think the storyline is good and will be fun to play, but this could have been set in any typical region in Cormyr.

[Spoiler Warning]

It takes place in a small river town called Wheloon. The characters then travel to the Vast Swamp and then the plane of shadow.

I guess I was expecting a trip through Suzail or Arabel. Maybe more of an inclusion of the Cormyrian War Wizards or Purple Dragons. Nope. Not in this book.

So where does that leave me with the forementioned Sourcebook vs. Super-Module. I think that if you are going to publish a super-module, you should already have source material out there. We've had nothing for Cormyr outside the FRCS and now we have just a tiny glimpse of the region in a module that might as well be set in SilveryMoon.

I digress that maybe this will be an exciting adventure to take my friends on, but I was hoping for something more.... Cormyrian.

I have also ordered this module and even though Jalcee's criticism does worry me a little bit, I do look forward to this one greatly!

I have long been calling for a super-trilogy set in FRCS, so I am glad that Wizards now obey me, Caligula. ;)

I don't think it is a question regarding Sourcebooks versus Super-modules, it should rather be Sourcebooks AND Supermodules. One doesn't work without the other. For quite some time Wizards threw out sourcebook after sourcebook, but no adventures. I think that was a bad idea. Now they almost over-compensate by throwing out loads of adventures. I wish they could sync their publishing better and mix it up a bit.

I also wish that Jalcee, and anyone else who criticises a product like this in public, could be more specific and share with us what exactly it is that they don't like.

"Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave" is said to be the biggest campaign module ever made for the FRCS game, perhaps even the D&D game. I look forward to throw my cocky players into the misty hills of Cormyr!

I have it and read through it.
The feeling it gives me is a bunch of dungeons thrown together, its pretty linear and the plot is illogical. Its better than Mysteries of the Moonsea, but much less than the Red Hand of Doom.

I also find the fact that the BBEG's plot takes a long period of time and Mystra completely ignoring it pretty silly. Other logical inconsistancies such as the Mystran cleric having to hoof it back to Sembia (why not hire a teleport?) and get the calvary are silly.

I find a lot of the adventures in Dungeon Magazine more interesting than the book. Sad but true.

However, there is a bright side to it. It format of lumping all the required monster stats into each encounter is useful for some DMs, though some may suspect that its just to bulk it up (seeing that a lot of the stats are duplicated for each encounter)

I thought I was clear in my post, but apparantly I left out my point. As an adventure, I think it looks solid and has a lot of interesting plot points and locations. I haven't dug into the details of the encounters and such, but I'm sure they too are equally interesting.

I'd just like to point out, that we are without a sourcebook for Cormyr so far, and I was expecting this super-module with Cormyr in the title would feature more of the region than a snippet of an out-of-the-way town .

That's the main criticism that I have. I am all for the super-module, bring them on! I think we're in agreement that I'd just like to see a balance in source material as well. However, I just think that we could have limped by without a Cormyr sourcebook for a while if this module had more of Cormyr in it.
