casey 06-21-04, 10:02 AM	I've got a game going for my three kids. My youngest player (the boy), is rather creative.... They are playing ECL 15 (with any race/monster open), and my son is a Gold Dragon (as per the template provided in the anniversary issue of Dragon Mag). He wanted to turn into a germ and get breathed in by the werewolf they were fighting. How would this work in game mechanics, if at all? Would he get the choice of germs? WOuld the wolf become infected? Would it spread? Then, on learning about silver/10 for the wolf, my daughter asked whether a silver dragon's claws counted? ANother question: If you attempt a tumble check to push through an enemy square (DC 25 I think), and you fail, you stop where you are (i.e. can't make it through). However, if you have 3 allies between you and the enemy (with say a 5 foot wide hallway), and you go through the allies squares, then fail the save, what happens? You can't stop flat, as the square you'd be in has your ally, the one behind that does as well, and the one behind that also. Does it then send you back three hexes, to where you started? How would you describe this effect in game terms?
casey 06-21-04, 10:03 AM	One other question: Regarding the gold dragon fighting the werewolf - he also wanted to turn into a mosquito and suck the werewolf's blood. Would this cause him to require a fort save vs lycanthropy, or are dragon's immune to this?
GSHamster 06-21-04, 10:20 AM	1. I think there is a size limit on polymorph. I think germs are too small to be changed into. Even if he could change into a germ, he would need to reproduce to spread, and I don't think I would permit that. 2. Going by the official rules, I don't think so. However, I kind of like it. It's flavourful, and is in line with silver dragons fighting evil. So feel free to make this a house rule. 3. I'd drop you back where you started. Just say that you are unable to get through the crowd of people in front of you. 4. Again, I think a mosquito is a bit small. But still, how much damage is a mosquito going to do? I've never been killed by one, and I'm sure a werewolf is a lot tougher than I am. A general rule of thumb for polymorph is that if you don't have stats for it (or an equivalent creature) you can't polymorph into it.
Zherog 06-21-04, 12:10 PM	Regarding the tumble question... I believe the rules state somewhere that if you are unable to stop in the proper square, you fall prone in that square instead. I'll have to poke around a bit to find it, though.
RobTzu 06-21-04, 05:26 PM	I am not sure that the Dragon would know what a germ was. Turning into one would be meta game thinking even if possible.
casey 06-21-04, 05:52 PM	While I agree in theory that turning into a germ might be considered metagame thinking, he's 9 yrs old..... Ever try to explain metagaming to a 9 yr old? Not that easy.
