I recently started a special game with two other experienced players and/or DMs. What we did is that we each made our character seperatly, not knowing eachother's classes and races. The main difference of our game is that one is DMing for about 1h and then we switch roles so the DM becomes player and is replaced by another one. This way, we all can enjoy the joy of being a PC and a DM. Because we cannot prepare a lot in advance, we base it all on improvisation. It could have gone pretty point less but we ended up with a good game, where everyone brings his ideas and style and we even have a good team spirit (we are two bards plus a fighter with Perform(armor drumming), so we made up a band). I'm sure this couldn't work with any group tho. I think it is one of the best game i've played, you should see us discuss to try and overcome the challenges we have set ourselves. :looloo: |

The setting was a pseudo-Dark Ages Britain with no magic. We used gestalt characters and a class defense bonus to AC, while having armor give damage reduction (and the best armor available in the setting was chainmail). It was pretty fun. What we did was after buying equipment, you'd roll to see how much money your character has (to fit the flavor we wanted, no matter what you bought, you'd only start out the campaign with a few silver and coppers at most). One guy got nothing. So he wanted a reason why. What he came up with is that his character tends to spend whatever money he gets on drinking and whoring. The campaign began with his character waking up with a hangover and not remembering what happened the night before. I was the first to DM. I waited to see what the players wanted to do. One of them suggesting robbing the pilgrims that were supposed to be showing up in town soon. There was no mention of pilgrims before this point, but we went with it, and it worked out wonderfully. |
