Creature into a Bagof Holding [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-11-05, 03:56 PM Hello to all. I'm a DM & I need help.
During a game session my players have placed a living creature into a Bag of Holding. Then to avoid the creature being set free they have cut the Bag of Holding open. By reading the DMG it's stated that the content is forver lost.
However I'd like to know:

1) The creature will still be alive after the Bag of Holding has been thorn apart ?
2) An object is forever lost, but a creature ( assuming that is still alive ) could find a way back via Plane Shift, Teleport or other magic ?
3) The prerequisites for the creation of a Bag of Holding is the Leomund's Secret Chest Spell. In the spell is stated that if the miniature chest is destroyed an extraplanar search party could try to find the original chest. Can I apply this logic also to the Bag of Holding.

I say play this by ear if there isn't a legitimite rule in place. Keep the creature alive in "the void" or thrown across the planes where it can plan a terrible, terrible revenge.

I'd say yes after considering the above reply

05-11-05, 05:37 PM I am not going to say any rules but i will tell one story about what has happened with our group.

We were fighting a high level wizard and he hit us with a maximum fireball. We failed our reflex saves and the entire party dies. But our familiars survive because they hid in our bags of holding.

05-18-05, 07:40 PM Remember, there's isn't a lot of air inside a bag of holding. Only the amount for the volume that is given. Check the rules for suffocation to make sure the creature won't die. Of course, that doesn't really apply to undead or constructs, but Familiars have to breathe, too (at least most of the familiars I've ever had)
