GreyLord 08-26-05, 10:55 PM	Having been on both sides of the States now, I've noticed that in truth there is quite a difference in culture between where I live, and California/Oregon/Washington areas, and even the Western Desert States like Nevada and Utah. I think that the D&D hobby might be a lot more popular in California and that Western rim of states...at least the new stuff...and the older stuff might be more popular in other areas. Perhaps it's like DVDs and VHS. DVDs are finally getting really big in the Southeast, but it took a looong time, and one can still buy a VCR and VHS tapes in stores here. However, I found it nigh impossible to get them in some locations out west, and the further west I got, the harder it was to find VHS. In a similar vein I am curious as to some items. Where are you from (General area such as West Coast, West, MidWest, Texas, Southeast, Northeast, International - Britain, International Germany, International Italy, International Ireland, International Europe, International Australia, International Japan, V Korea, V Asia, V New Zealand, V Africa, International Middle East, Other)? Which version do you normally play? How easy is it for you to find a group to play with? What do you think is the more popular game to play in your area? How big do you think the hobby of D&D is in your area (In your opinion of course)? Just curious. I'm from the SouthEast. I typically play 1e. Unless I do active recruiting and get players myself, it is DANG hard to find a group that plays something other than 3.x it seems at the hobby shops. It is dang hard to find someone who actually plays 3.x outside of the hobby shops, but relatively easy to find those who play something other than 3.x or even D&D amongst other people who don't frequent those locations. I think the more popular game in stores is 3.x, however I think the more popular game to play in my area would either be Yugi Oh (oops I suppose that's not one of the choices), or 2e believe it or not. 1e is really popular as well, but not among those who play as much as are the ones that used to play but don't have much time now unless it's a single session one time go, maybe once every few months. I think the D&D hobby is relatively small, though they do sell D&D books at every bookseller in the area.
Serielle 08-27-05, 01:54 AM	I live in virginia. The only time I've ever found a D&D player in this state is from these boards. I tell you though, I've met people who play every other system imaginable. This place is crawling with WhiteWolf players. I'm sure your milage would vary, though.
