Anyone have suggestions on where I might look to find someone to make sets of custom (standard D20 7-piece sets) dice? Specifically, I'm looking for someone who can make me a set of dice out of onyx. I'm willing to pay pretty high for something like this. Thanks in advance for any links or tips you can provide.

Why not buy from Crystal Caste? Or, if they don't have an Onyx set, maybe you can contact them about making you a set if you supply the onyx...or something.

As far as I know, they dont take custom orders. They also dont have any dice made out of onyx and most of the semi-precious stone dice they sell are 12mm and I'd like to get full sized (16mm) dice. Plus, any bloke with 25-40 bucks can buy a set of dice from them. I'm looking for something a little more unique.

(Not that Crystal Castle dice are not good...I've acutally ordered quite a few sets from them in the past).

And now, having thought about it some more, perhaps you could inquire at your local gemologist. I know locally we also have a Rock Museum (imagine the thrill) but if you have something similar you might try that. I know the fellow who runs the local museum has been known to cut stones (either precious, semi-precious, or 'look-its-a-rock-just-a-rock-okay') for people. He certainly has the appropriate tools for it. This of course pre-supposes you have the quantity of Onyx necessary.

Onyx can be synthisized with a simple process, kind of like growing crystals.

Yeah, this looks like the direction I'm going to have to go after doing about 2 hours of web research. Having a hard time finding a company that sells onxy in big enough chunks to make 16mm dice though.

Maybe if I just start digging now...
