Cut Up The Books? [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-16-05, 01:02 PM Ok everyone, I'm in a dilemma. Recently I purchased a hefty stack of AD&D and AD&D2e books for a dollar a piece. I got twelve of them, 5 are the old hardcover AD&D rulebooks. My main reasonining in getting them was for old source material and the pictures out of them, being as they have some fine quality printed artwork in them. Is there really any reason for me to preserve these books in their entirety?

I'm debating whether or not to cut the pictures out of the books or not. If I took all the pcitures out and and "framed" them up on my walls, I'd have quite a decorated room, but I'd be missing some material out of the books.

What do yall think?

you better scan the images and laser print them. And you´ll keep your books in one piece.

06-16-05, 01:09 PM I wouldnt do it. They are nice books, and it is very interesting to flick through them. I take alot of house rules from the adnd rules, and it is worth keeping the books.

That was cheap!!!! Anything wrong with them?

06-16-05, 01:13 PM They're in very good condition actually. I'm regretting that I only bought one of each of the best condition books, there were quite a few duplicates there, but I didn't buy them. I may have to see if I can get them now.

06-16-05, 02:23 PM Yeah...ebay the names of them. Certain books, like the very first printing of Deities and Demigods and some Planescape books go for upwards of $30-50 dollars.

Not very massive at all. With a few exceptions here and there, pre-3.0 D&D books don't fetch nearly the dollars they used to.

Zodan, just cut the damn things up if you have a specific use you bought them for. They're not ancient religious artifacts, they're game books. If you're not going to use them for gaming, well, then whatever. Have a blast.

It entertains me to no end that I can write "cut the damn things up" or "may those books burn in hell," or even that you should "cut those bastards up," but if I write the technical and correct term for a man's balls - ********* (that's "test" followed by "icles," folks) - the filter blocks the word. What about the word testes? Well that one is okay. But not *********. Fantastic! No matter how many times I see this sort of thing take place, I am entertained and astonished just thinking of what sort of mind concocted this.

Brilliant. Utterly brilliant.

06-16-05, 03:19 PM We have these magical machines called "Copiers" that will make a good copy of a page/photo so you don't destroy the originial. :)

06-16-05, 05:45 PM Yeah, AmanitaEata, I've looked them up on eBay and was certainly disillusioned with how much they were selling for, and apart from pictures and non-rule materials (like stuff in the complete Bard book) there's not a lot of use for them for me. I'll probably just look at the back of the page with the picture and see if it's information I may want, and photocopy that.

I know yall've said photocopy the pictures, but the point is that they're already finely printed. My copier probably wouldn't do the job as well, it certainly wouldn't be cheaper, and I can just as many awesome pictures to print out. (like from Larry Elmore's gallery)

I probably will just cut the damn books up and have a blast with it, thanks for putting it that way AmanitaEata :P
