When does it come out on DVD? I heard it's the 8th of November (which is past btw) and I've also heard Feb 2006.

Which is it?

No stores seem to either want to carry it, or just don't have it in stock yet, though they show it coming in anytime...

I even saw a commercial for it that showed it coming out November 8th!

What gives?

For whatever reason, there is a indication, that it has been pushed back *or sold out?*, for one of many reasons. The movies that coming down the line, the DVD releases, and also, since only being played on SCI FI channel, *cable* does not reach a double-digit population, again, who knows. Can play with the purchasing power.

Here is one thread (http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=151808&page=3&pp=50), that is trying to understand the problem.

I check my own sources, nothing at SunCoast.

UPDATE:Seems to be selling at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B7QCG8/103-5177602-0414261?v=glance&n=130&n=507846&s=dvd&v=glance) (USA).com *If the link doesn't work, you must have a account to see it*

You'll have to go to one of them countries, where David Hasselhoff is a bigger star than Brad Pitt.

At least from what someone told me when I asked how the hell the first D&D film did so well in box office revenue. (It wasn't US domestic, but international worldwide theaters that ate it up.)

Now you know why Baywatch syndicated TV series ran longer than necessary.

Have you tried target? Thats seem to be the only retailer claiming to have it. I have tried ordering it from amazon and target, but it says it will get here January 10th 2006. All the info says it was release on the 8th but im just not seeing it anywere. I oculd have been a preorder thing that no one was aware of. I dont live near a target so I cant tell if they have it in any of their physical stores. I want to get to the bottom of this but it doesn't look like im going to.

I heard they cut the subtitle out of this one before it hit the shelves. The film was actually originally titled: Dungeons & Dragons II: The Final Turd In The Punchbowl.

Most sites I visit that have a release date show Feb 7, 2006. Other sites that look like it can be ordered don't carry it in store. These sites also show as available to order many movies I know to have not yet been released on DVD.

According to Erik Mona's latest editorial, it was DVD sales that kept it in the black...

Yeah, but you got Wal-Mart on the Big Island, if not on Oahu. Same thing. :)

According to the crew at my FLGS (The Source in Falcon Heights, Minnesota) the DVD release for D&D II was pushed back 3 months. Why? Because the film is getting such good ratings on Sci-Fi, they exercised an option to keep it exclusive for an additional 3 months. (At least, that's what their distributor told them...)

Talk about no good deed goes unpunished--because people watched it on Sci-Fi, they have to wait for the DVD longer. Mmmmrrrgggghhhhh....

(And since I have neither satellite nor cable, I can't see it at all. Blergh.)

You're kidding, right? :uh-huh:

Why can't they just buy some decent porn instead, or the first printing copy of 3.0e Player's Handbook? :P

Ate it up is sort of pushing it. I forget the numbers, but the movie I think grossed 15 mil in the US and 25 Internationally, and cost 25 to make.

I honestly believe, however, that other countries have the same problem with American made products that other country products have in the US. Thats the belief that since it came from the other place, it must be better. This usually comes from idiots.

You know them. You've seen them. People who will eat pocky and stale candy that tastes like cheap gummy bears that costs 18 times as much just because it came from Japan. Or the jackass who spends 4 times the money on coffee just because "its FRENCH". Or the uppity guy who will watch a non-sensical movie about nothing in subtitles that were translated by a baboon just because its a foreign film, so it has to be good.

This same ignorance exists overseas. And just like the Japanese companies who send us their worst and campiest anime (Dragonball Z, Pokemon) and expect it to sell and succeed, we do the same back to them. We send them the campiest crap we make and make money off it cause its American.

Thats my opinion on how the international audience ate up a movie like that.

Edit: I would like to mention that I liked the second D&D movie. Not LOVED. I give it a 6. Note that this rating takes in the fact that the movie was a Sci Fi movie of the week deal, so expectations were a lot less than a theatrical release, even though I would rather this one have been released in the theatres instead of the first one.

"Whoa there, horsie". ;) What's with the senseless attack on the D&D movie? It wasn't good, but anyone who's seen more than a few movies knows it's was not that bad either. The problem with the D&D movie is that most people who knew the game had high expectations for it, and it failed to deliver. Most people who don't even know what D&D is, watch the movie and think it's an average effort. No more, no less.

I don't usually say this about someone else's opinion but, in your case, your opinion is wrong. In fact, the image people in Europe have of Hollywood is, in general, quite poor. Terms like "all flash, no substance" are the most common and the most prominent reviewers are quick to point out that while Americans tend to be more "explicit" in delivering a message in a movie, Europeans tend to be more "implicit", which is why most Americans have a hard time understanding European movies in the first place. Now, don't get all defensive and think this is meant to say Americans are dumb - it's not, but it's a fact your culture is more used to get things delivered like "fast-food". Nothing wrong with that, but I think it's safe to say you know little, if anything, of how Europeans see the movie industry - this side of the ocean, or otherwise.

In regards to the D&D movie, as I said to REG Ranger, I believe it's "apparent" acceptance in Europe probably comes from the fact the game itself is not so well-known here as it is in America. D&D is an american product so, even if you don't play it, you have at least heard about it. Here in Europe it's different, you have a much harder time finding anyone who even knows what Pen and Paper RPG is, let alone "D&D". As a quick example, I used to say to my girlfriend how bad the movie was (she wasn't a player at the time). She finally saw the movie on tv and then told me "well, from what you said, I expected worse... it wasn't THAT bad". Now, after seeing the movie two more times (one on TV, another on DVD), I tend to agree. It fails to deliver what I expect from a D&D world... but if you ignore that, it's not unwatchable.

I haven't seen the second movie, nor do I know anyone who has, but curiosity will eventually get the better of me, I'm sure :)

It is true that "Big Movie Critics" from Europe don't like Hollywood movies and think of them as shalow.

As for D&D2 I have seen it and it is good for a B TV movie, but for a cinema movie. It is good that it didn't come to cinemas. It had worse effects and worse actors then first movie but better story and idea. Too bad that there wasn't a combination of both movies, then fans would have been pleased.

I often feel like I'm the only person who even cared that Ishmir devolved from a grand city with unfathomably tall spires to a Lithuanian hamlet where all the rooms looked the same. Archangel pretty much nailed what I thought of the sequel.

The story was a lot better for a D&D movie. It's too bad the production quality and cast had a hard time pulling it off. Say what you will about the first movie, but those actors delivered their cheese with a lot more conviction.

Ah, my island friend, I am in no rush to get it. Wait, I am not getting it, since I don't have the first one either.

It is just that, a date was stated, and stated, and stated, and now...it came and fell short. And as it was stated here also, some people were the lucky ones, in getting the 'film', before the new reissue date, was announce for next year.

Somebody somewhere, should know what they are doing, yes?

No idea of what those links are about, I din't even knew that they've released a second d&d the movie. No wonder, the first one was such a piece of scrap...poor cast of actors, poor background, the only thing good about it were the special-effects.

So is it released yet or ???

Hope its better then the first one.
