| honeynuggets01-11-07, 01:39 PM | I never got to make my requests in the archived post of a similar name and since searching is a pain....here is a new post. Things I want: 1. Class Defense bonus equal to BAB so characters get better at defense at the same rate as offense. Class Defense bonus applies to Touch AC allowing a high level Drizzt to be significantly harder to Touch than a commoner. 2. Rangers mirror Paladin in power level but not flavor since they are both divine martial classes with opposite philosophies. Ranger gets Animal Companion at 1st level so it's only slightly inferior to the Paladin mount instead of absurdly inferior for example. 3. Armor gets DR or hybrid AC+DR rule as default 4. No dead levels in base classes. There are plenty of junk flavor feats and so-so powers to use. 5. Wizard and Sorcerer base class get to choose a Reserve Spell feat at first level by default so they DO magic stuff all the time instead of slinging or shooting arrows or cowering. 6. Keep Cleric most powerful class. It just feels right. But, balance power of all other base classes to match each other. 7. Allow characters to initiate Tumble movement from the prone position instead of crawling. Or get rid of the spiked chain altogether. 8. Upload errata corrected pdf pages of books so I can print them and tape them over the book pages. |
| Thelandrach01-11-07, 02:52 PM | Why do you need an entirely new version of the game system and $400 worth of books to make changes to a dozen charts that you could do yourself in five minutes? For me, I want 4.0 to be different enough from 3.5 that I can keep playing 3.5 without having the feeling that I'm missing out on True D&D, not just a few numerical changes. I will not pay that much money for a slight mathematical change to the game system. |
| JhyarelleNightwind01-11-07, 03:06 PM | Have a way to regen PP for psions via feats like in "Player's Option Skills and Tactics." I miss the way you regain a percentage of your total Psp, about 1/8 of your total pool within the hour of resting and combo-ed with a Rejuvination proficency, you can regen 1/4 PP while doing light to med activity, which excludes fighting and manifesting powers. I would like to see a similar feat to the Rejuviantion profiency. Rejuv state that in a meditavie state a psion can regain 1/4 of thier to PSP total in an hour. Now adapting that to 4E could be don this way. Rejuvination (Metapsionic) Prereq: Con 8 ranks, Focus (Concetration) When maintaining a Psionic focus and in a deep deditative transe, a psion can regain lost PP equal to relative stat modifer + psionic class level per hour (multicalss psionics classes satcks). Psion may not spend any remaning psp while in this state and if disturbed by out side means (EX: attack) the Psionic Focus is automaticaly psent and any psp regained are lost. Improved Rejuvination Prereq: Con 15 ranks Rejuvination As Rejuv but, @ double the relative stat mod + psionc class leves, and can be done with out meditating. Pc can do little to no activity to gain this feats benifits. Bring back Rate of Fire (RoF) rules back from 2nd Ed. |
| Ariath Ska'Vhor01-11-07, 03:17 PM | To be blunt, I dread the day 4.0 comes out because I have about $700 worth of 3.X stuff I don't want to become obsolete. But if that weren't the case, I'd like a revision of vancian caster system and in it's place use a power-point based casting system. But I don't want wizards to become spontaneous casters, I'd like it if they recieved a number of 'mana-points' and picked what spells they prepared with the available number of points. |

I am in the position as you are. I also agree that if 4.0 would come out, that the vancian system needs to be redone. |
| Engilbrand01-11-07, 04:42 PM | Every edition has been mechanically different from those which have come before. There are a TON of different systems that exist from other companies. It's entirely possible to use MOST of those systems to play "D&D". Personally, I love the current D20 system. I also like some of the systems that aren't based on classes, like Exalted. When 4.0 comes out years from now, it won't at all use the current system. Why should it? That would just make it 3.75 and make it akin to Unearthed Arcana. Whose to say that they'll even have AC or BAB? |
| Gemstone01-11-07, 05:46 PM | Im among those who firmly believes the vancian spellcasting system should remain. It was one of the things that made me play DnD from the start. I've already tried several other systems, which uses a point-based casting system and I find it more clunky and often less understandable and flexible than the vancian spellcasting system. Else, I would like to give each class more options and more skills |

| TheWerg01-11-07, 07:33 PM | Almost certainly, when 4.0 comes out, I want 3.5 back again. |
| Sleepwalker1366601-11-07, 07:57 PM | I would like people to stop worrying about a 4th edition, the system may not be perfect but it's easily adapable, so if you got a problem with it, fix it yourself and quit asking wizards to reprint 600+$ worth of books I'm having enough trouble to keep up with the 3.5 books coming out, and I dont want a new system making that stuff obsolete. |
| Millennium01-11-07, 08:03 PM | 1) Anything but spellpoints. Video-game magic does not belong in a role-playing game. 2) Eliminate prestige classes and generalize the core classes. As it is, any archetype can be played with core classes (plus a bit of multiclassing), feats, and roleplay, but the added cruft has obscured this for too many and too long. 3) Um... err... that's about it, really. |
| WhiteRaven81001-11-07, 08:21 PM | 1. For people to stop talking about the arrival of 4.0. 2. For 4.0 to never come. 3. Less deities. 4. Slightly cheaper supplements. |
| Leo01-12-07, 08:33 AM | As long as people keep playing 3.X and buiyng supplements, there is no reason to wizards to print 4.0. |
| Luis_Carlos01-14-07, 12:40 PM | Perhaps the updated of alignment, more similar to the allegiances rules of d20 Modern. I have think in two news sub-alignmet, one the ¨exalted¨ for saints or super-good characters, and the tainted, no only bad like fanatics, tyrants or corrupts politician but ¨blackheart¨, devout of the total evil. The evil character do bad things, but still has a bit of humanity (like Darth Vader, or the supervillains Dr. Doom or Magneto), the tainted only want making all the possible harm, without if it would be not necesarry ¨for the business¨. For me the axis Good-Evil is totally the same, but the second ¨axis¨ would be between a ideology, religion, faction.... for example imagine you have ¨deities and demigods¨ and a characther is a LN follower of a LN Asgardian deity. The He will be Lawul for the rest of Asgardian pantheon followers, but for enemy cults (like Thor versus Loki) and ¨chaotic¨ for other pantheons like Pharaonic (Egypt), Olimpian, Mesopotamian Dragon Magazine 329)... even the LN of these ¨infidels¨ pantheons. Do you understand i? Forgoten Realms has something similar...Hasn´t it? A very radical change it may be four more ability (but only like option rule in a new unearthed arcana); - shrewdness, interaction with the reality, fast mind despite of phsyicological pressure - courage, will power, moral convictions, ¨mental health¨. - perception, seing, hearing, sense of smell!!!!, intuition, discovering the litle details. - and technical, manufacture, craft (works with a lot of time) - Wisdow would be more dedicated to the philosophy and/or spirit maturity. - Intelligence with knowledge and complex thinkings. - and Dexterity with fast physical actions A ¨Zero¨ class, like the commoner from the DM guide, to balancing PC races with a level adjusment +1 or more. A ¨zero race/creature¨, with a level adjustment ¨-1¨ or lower for templates in low levels... Two CR for the creatures. One is the normal, and the other is the same but without nor extraordinary Abilities (Ex). The intention is making easier estimating the changelling rating of creatures with templates. (Rebember for example the spell-like and the supernatural abilities are lost in templates like zombie, or the satified from Book of Exalteed Deeds). Nagas with arms like option. Monster Class for all races characther if their level adjustment is +1 or more. In Monster Manual II the best selection of creatures what would not be in the Monster Manual I...(dinosaurs, dread animals, dragons like gem, oriental (lungs), golems, giants, templates...). A new Savage Species, and other Savages Species II for monster class of creatures out of Monster Manual I. |
| leather_book_wizard01-14-07, 12:50 PM | I am in the position as you are. I also agree that if 4.0 would come out, that the vancian system needs to be redone. No. Not even. If they change the casting system, I will quit D&D. |
| Silverthumb12801-14-07, 01:41 PM | When 4th edition comes out, I want 5th edition to come out a month later. Or, at least, I want to see Google Plex threads about how it should, and what they want to see. And I want 4th edition to thank God, and my mom, and Elvis, and my baby's Momma! Whoo, we did it, 4th edition! Whoo! And also, I want 4th edition to cure cancer, and I want to give every family 1d3 puppies, thank you. |
| Darkwolf7101-14-07, 02:08 PM | I need a new source of cats... :evillaugh :evillaugh :evillaugh |

| Escef01-14-07, 04:13 PM | I just figured out what I want more than anything from 4e. I want all 4e book covers to have a core of plastique explosive, and a detonator programed to explode the second anyone with 10 feet of it so much as considers the existance of a 5e. |

| leather_book_wizard01-14-07, 04:19 PM | Or you could just keep playing 3.5 Just a thought :D I could. But I would like the people that came up with 4th Edition to know that they, in their folly, have forever turned someone away from all editions of D&D. They shall forever mourn the loss of me as one of their loyals and shall cry at the top of their voice;" Come back! We'll get rid of this and bring back 3.5!" But I will not come back! Ever!!!!!!!!!!! Or I could just keep playing 3.5. |
