| sorreahdarkhart07-23-07, 12:08 AM | I'm starting to write up a campaign packet for my players, and I'm wondering what other 'add-ons' are there for D&D? I know there's the Expanded Psionics Handbook, Magic of Incarnum, and the Epic Level Handbook, but are there others than those? I do plan on using the Epic Level Handbook, but I'm wondering if there's anything out there I might want to be aware of. I'm not looking specifically for setting guides, but things that introduce different rules (like the EPH's psionic points, for example). |

I've got most of the Complete series, except the newest ones (Mage, Champion, and Scoundrel). I should look into the Races Of series too. Since you mentioned the Complete series, I think a look into the Races Of would be good too. |

But, along the lines of the XPH, Incarnum, etc, there is the Tome of Magic and Tome of Battle (two books). There is also Heroes of Battle and Heroes of Horror that add rules for running campaigns around mass battle and horror. There is the enviroment books (Cityscape, Dungeonscape, Frostburn, Sandstorm, Stormwrack, and any other I forgot) that gives you rules for running campaigns around various different enviroments. Then, there is the capaign books, which add new worlds, and thier companion books which go into more indepth detail of different areas the new worlds. Even if you homebrew your world, they are still good for ideas on how various different nations can be set up. The rest have some 'add-on'-style stuff, but mostly are filled with options, and tons of them, for both player and DM alike. |

It brings the game to the next level, breaking the rigid limitations of the game and offering refreshing ideas. One of the best examples is about spells, with Spell Points, instead of the annoying "Vancian" magic system (x spells per day). Other examples : Racial bloodlines, class variants, armor damage reduction, vitality, spell channeling, advanced specialists... |
