08-19-04, 08:41 PM So, anyone else thinking about getting this?

FOr a set of minis that are not random (you now what you get, it was listed in one of the Dungeon mags, and I think somewhere on this website), a spare set of dice, Dungeon tiles, and 3.5 compliant basic chargen rules?

All for $25? 16 minis at $10 a booster box will run you $20 alone.

Anyone else think this looks like a good idea even for supplementary stuff?

08-19-04, 09:00 PM I know I am. The only thing I'm concerned about is when exactly it comes out. It says September 2004 does that mean early or late September. I have that. It's not bad, but plastic minis are better than cardboard counters.

Boosters of D&D Miniatures are now selling for $13 as a standard price, so the price of this game is looking better and better. :)

There have been a few threads on it recently, and there are certainly people looking forward to it!

08-20-04, 04:15 PM Since WotC are coming out with a new Basic Set, what would be really cool is if they were to come out with a new Expert set. In fact, how about a whole rerelease of the boxed rulesets for 3.5? Now that would be awesome!!

It's a way of introducing new people to D&D, and also a way that doesn't require established players. :)

The game needs more entrance portals. Much as I love D&D 3.5E, I think it's too much all at once for a new player to deal with. (I occasionally think of it as Advanced Advanced D&D - although the basic rules aren't difficult, the wealth of options is overwhelming).

I'd rather like an "Expert" set, though it is likely it wouldn't be as big as the early version - not levels 4-14! However, if there was just a set that covered levels 3-6, leading on from the Basic set, that would allow more of the concepts of D&D 3.5E to be introduced whilst still keeping the options from overwhelming the new players.
