| Dark Brandon12-03-05, 05:18 AM | That's really what I would like. I'd like to have a book that lists all feats (if that's possible), new feats, fighter feats (I think a book or two may have left out certain notes for what a fighter can take as feats). |
| CzarGarrett12-03-05, 09:39 AM | Problem with that, is most new books will have additional feats, so once a new book or two comes out, such a book would be obsolte. |
| memorax12-03-05, 11:31 AM | I would also like to see a book of feats. It would allow me to carry less books around when I run games. Which to me is a good thing. Czar Garrett you make a good point except any book like this will always be somewhat out of date. Look at the Spell Compendium. It up to date and current now but when Wotc releases new book next year it will be slightly out of date. Still very useful except it will not have spells listed for 2006 products. Which is way it's called Spell Compendium Vol 1. |
| Elkas Saralonde12-03-05, 12:16 PM | Nuh-uh... The Spell Compendium, for as far as I know, didn't use spells from books beside the core ones. You have the Far Corners of the World series, the core spells, and I think some from Dragon Magazine and some converted ones. Thus, I think such a book would hold only classic feats from online resources and Dragon Magazine, among other resources which don't become obsolete for a long while. However, as exciting as the idea sounds, I'm not so sure it'd be a great hit, unless they're trying to make a 'Compendium' series and all. I mean, those who get to use the Spell Compendium the most actually have a lot of choice, having loads of spells known and all. That being said, the Wizard'd most enjoy this book. Anyways, the only character who could benefit from such a 'Compendium' would be a human fighter or the equivalent, and he could only use it 18 times. In comparison, even a sorcerer could consult the Spell Compendium 43 times, not to mention a Wizard... However, if you plan on using it like a shared book which every player in your group can consult and use, I'd say it wouldn't be such a bad idea, especially if you want to make your characters something special. I really advocate the use of bonus feats as a means of customization, and customization is my creed. But this use would mean that it would have to divide the chapters correspondingly, so that all 'archetypes' would have their own section (melee warriors their fighter feats, metamagic feats). All in all, I favor the book, provided it's used for a whole group, and not just a private book. |
| Baptor12-03-05, 01:37 PM | Yes indeed, I was going to start a thread on this very subject when I saw yours. Ever since I heard of the Spell Compendium, I began to rethink my stance on allowed material. You see Ive been DMing since 98, and Ive always allowed whatever players wanted to bring to the table to be played as long as it was WotC (or TSR) material. But as the years passed and we all amassed various libraries of books, the game became a tedious "look up" session, for all the feats, spells and PrCs we took often came from many different sources. So we came to an agreement this year to ban everything but the Core Books only. Everyone is satisfied with the improvement in speed, but we all long to have more options. The spell compendium has given us a glimmer of hope. Now we can just buy one book, and draw all the spells from it. Yes we will miss out on the new stuff that comes after the Compendium...but so what? We will still be way better off than we were IMO. A feat compendium is the best next logical step. I hope to see a Spell, Feat, and maybe a PrC Compendium all out sooner than later. |

You have the Far Corners of the World series, the core spells, and I think some from Dragon Magazine and some converted ones. Thus, I think such a book would hold only classic feats from online resources and Dragon Magazine, among other resources which don't become obsolete for a long while. Just to note, there are no core spells in the Spell Compendium. It has spells from soruces ranging from the Complete series, to Dragon magazine, this website, to the Draconomican, to Magic of Faerun. Lots and lots and lots of spells. Just noting. To be honest, a feat book'd be nice, but due to a bunch of subsystems out there, a lot of htem just can't be put into one place. That and I don't htink they're oging ot go and invalidate their Complete line just yet with compendiums of everything out there. Spells are one of the most-refered-to things out there, if not the most. You only need feats hwen building a character, and then you are probably okay. And you don't ever have so many feats that you can just write them down. Spells on the other hand are different I think. Wizards and sorcerers get new ones damned near every level. Divine casters have it even worse, as technically, they can prepare every single spell. Gets annnoying to go through six books for a spell based on the day. Just my two cents. I really wouldn't mind all the feats in one place, admitedly. But at the same time, they arent' really necessary. Stuff. Stuff. |
| Mr.Atheist12-03-05, 10:15 PM | Or if they just rereleased the PHB with all the spells, feats, skills, etc thus far. *dreams of the master book* Everything a player needs, what a phb should be (yes, i know how crazy i sound). |
| Dark Brandon12-06-05, 11:05 PM | I know use is one of the things people would like to get out of it. Why buy a book you'll only used a few time? I think it would just be nice to have, especially if it lists all feats, meta-magic to psionic and everything else. and if they wanted to sell more copies, they could just add some new feats in the book that you won't find anywhere else. |
