| Walls08-21-07, 12:33 AM | I put this in another forum but perhaps this is more appropriate! Ladies and gents! Not sure if this has been done before but I am blatantly and proudly taking this from the FR forums. It has been my favorite thread thus far on any D&D forum... but FR-centric. Why not post our characters no matter the world! http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=757104 <---for the curious Copy and paste, reversing the bracket at the begining of each line. ]quote] ]b]Name:[/b] character's full name and/or titles ]b]Level:[/b] classes with levels ]b]Alignment:[/b] alignment with tendcies ]b]Deity:[/b] primary deity ]b]Gender/Race:[/b] gender, race and sub-race as well as templates ]b]DoB/Age:[/b] DoB in DR with actual/physical age ]b]Region:[/b] Area most often frequented by the character ]/quote] After providing the above information in a quote box the rest of your post can be as detailed as you wish. I will post my FR characters below to show you the start! Name: The Walker he is simply known as, his real name being known to very few as Gareth Greycole Level: 17th Level Ranger/2nd Level Barbarian/5th level Highland Stalker Alignment: Chaotic Good Deity: Mielikki, oft rumored to be one of her "Chosen" Gender/Race: Male Human (Damaran) DoB/Age: Unknown, looks to be in his mid to late thirties but rumored to be well into his 80's or 90's... some say much higher Region: Northern Faerun from the stretches of the Spine of the World straight over through the Dalelands, and the lands surrounding The Great Glacier. His wide ranged knowledge would assume he's travelled the breadth of the continent and more, however. He leaves no track where he walks, can survive in the harshest of conditions and knows the worlds smallest trails and most hidden passes. Put him in the most obscure location and he would not be lost. Very little seems to be known of the dangerous ranger. He is amongst the North's greatest warriors, a renowned archer and tracker of such peerless skill it's said he can track an invisible bird in flight. He once hunted down and entire wartribe of orcs, killing all two hundred odd warriors within. He single handedly slew a green dragon of immense power, battling it over several days. Giants are said to tremble at his mention. Or... so the growing legends go. The Walker, as he is simply known amongst those of the North, is rumored to be one of Mielikki's "Chosen". A vicious hunter of orcs, giantkin and undead, The Walker is perhaps the least known of Faerun's great heroes, a mystery and enigma to even Mystra's Chosen and the Harpers. Name: Smithy Bouldersmash Level: Fighter level 6 Alignment: Lawful Good Deity: Moradin Gender/Race: Male Shield Dwarf Region: Currently the Western Heartlands A proud champion of dwarven causes, Bouldersmash is quite forward in his approach, willingly travelling outside the breadth of Dwarven territory. He battles his race's enemies with a wild fervor. Stout and strong he was born to be a dwarven defender despite the call both inwardly and from the clergy itself to become a warrior of his god. Name: Maynard Wentwhistle, also known in local lore and stories as The Crazy Rat or Maynard the Rat Level: 6th level rogue/1st level barbarian Alignment: Chaotic Neutral, formerly Chaotic Good Deity: A former follower of Brandobaris, Wentwhistle has since forsaken his following and is 'deity-less' though of late has been tempted by Gods such as Malar thanks to those of The Black Blood, whom have discovered his affliction. Gender/Race: Male Halfling Wererat Region: Baldur's Gate Maynard Wentwhistle was once a merry, fun loving, full of life adventurer. On one of his many escapades he found the blade known as Calathangas, The Rat Blade. The much befriended rogue succumbed to the blades lycanthropic powers, turning into the same creature it had turned so many into before, a were rat. Grief driven temporary insanity over came the small once hero, driving him into the depths of madness. He roamed the Dalelands, going east, a desperate, wild vagabond full of hatred for his state, helplessness and rage. Eventually the adventurer of so many deeds came to an understanding of his new state and in the process lost Calathangas. Making the Baldur's Gate area a temporary home, the much changed man leads his own life, living in the dark, nightmare plagued sleeps leading him from one seemingly meaningless quest to another. |
| gullas08-21-07, 06:12 AM | ok Here I go with one of my most memorable char. Name: Ixen the Kobold/Level: swashbuckler 6 Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Deity: none but often refferd to Llolth to get the Drow pally in the group upset Gender/Race: male, kobold DoB/Age:21 years old Region:wandering around khorwaire(Ixen is a eberron char) Ixen is very proud of himself , not as an Kobold but he honestly sees himself as a sexual symbol. He honestly doesn't know about the gnome vs. kobold hatred and sees gnome women as a very hard catch. Ixen is one of the very few to have bitten a man to death (in Thrane) and gotten away with the murder. Few people know that Ixen was "kicked" of his tribe and he decided to become a pirate. Ixen never refears to himself as "I" or like , he only refears to himself as "Ixen". example: "Ixen does not like to be played games with , Ixen only plays game with other pitifull fools" or "Ixen does not like you , but Ixen really likes your daughter". |
| elondir08-21-07, 01:45 PM | here's mine: Name: Elondir Level: Wizard 5/Fighter 1/Knight Phantom 1 Alignment: Neutral good with chaotic neutral tendencies Deity: Corellon Gender/Race: Male Gray Elf DoB/Age: 511 CY (86 years old) Region: Veluna; wanders (including Greyhawk City, Sharn, Aundair, Waterdeep, Stormreach, Palanthas, Specularum, and Lankhmar) |
| LifeIshFun08-21-07, 05:57 PM | Keep in mind- all my characters are of the home-spun world nature. That is to say they were all created in my DMs made-up world xD Name: Lord Katora Anarion of the Soundless Marsh Level: 16th Lvl. Ranger/ 9th Lvl. Shadow Dancer Alignment: Formerly Chaotic Neutral, now Neutral Evil Deity: Cestia, the Night Mother Gender/Race: Male, Modenite turned Psy Vampyre DoB/Age: 644 AoS (Age of Shadows) Region: The Soundless Marsh Katora Anarion has seen the worst that his world has to offer. War, Disease, Famine, and the general nature of human kind that has been forcing his people from their own lands. And since acquiring his "Dark Gift" (as it is called. Though Katora finds the term ridiculous) he has made it a point to restore the Modenite's former glory wherever he may find himself. The Eldest of the Anarions is quite, softspoken, and quite nimble. Prefering his deft blades and swift strikes to speak for him. Name: Vican Anarion of the Soundless Marsh Level: 14th Lvl. Druid/ 6th Lvl. Horizon Walker Alignment: Neutral Good Deity: Cestia, the Night Mother Gender/Race: Male, Modenite DoB/Age: 514 AoS (Age of Shadows) Region: He has no home to speak of, but frequents the Soundless Marsh trying to find his elder brother Katora Vican is a hard-headed lad, whose soul-purpose in life it seems is to live up to his Elder Brother's name...before he was turned to the living undead of course. He wanders the lands both in search of his brother and for a cure to the disease that runs through Katora. They were never close, but for some reason the nature of Vican will not allow him to ignore his brother's condition...regardless of whether or not Katora accepted it willingly... Name: Carmilla DeWynter Level: 6th lvl. Rogue Alignment: Chaotic Good Deity: Terina'kulin, the Swift Fingered Gender/Race: Female, Human DoB/Age: 26 AoDL (Age of Dawning Light) Region: The City of Pendicor (have yet to make any decent backstory or further delving into the character...when I have I'll update it xD) |
| MacrossSD08-22-07, 05:06 PM | Mine is a litlte odd...he IS a Realms character, but from a rather interesting place...: Name: Snorri Ulfgarsson, Son of Ulfgar, Son of Geat, Son of Sven, Son of Ragnar, Son of Hrothgar, Son of Hrolf One-Handed Level: 6th Fighter/5th Cleric (old-school 2e dual-class rules -- effective character class is 5th) Alignment: Lawful Neutral (Good) Deity: Odin/Tyr/Thor Gender/Race: Human DoB/Age: ca. 1000 AD, Hedeby, Denmark, roughly 25 years old Died: DR 1373 outside Loudwater Region: Loudwater/Llorkh/Oolbar Snorri was born and lived much of his life in Denmark, including the magnificent trading city of Hedeby. He had travelled to many lands, including the great city of the Greeks, Mickelgarth (Constantinople/Istanbul) and had seen Russia and Arabia on both trading and raiding missions, and was trusted with the title of Gothi (religious leader). His last moments on Earth was spent with his shipmates undertaking a trading expedition from Hedeby to Baghdad. While on the Black Sea, his ship came along a storm, and he was deposited with some of the wreckage of his ship in Faerun. He travels with Tolbert Greensmith, a mage/fighter; Sir William, a Paladin; and Alastair Hyde, a fighter. He used to also travel with Zane the Ill-Tempered (a necromancer) before Zane became corrupted by demonic forces and turned to the forces of evil (Snorri has called out a blood oath on Zane for his betrayal, though he has an agreement with Tolbert -- whoever reaches Zane first is the one to wreak revenge upon him!)). Currently the party is on a mission for the church of Selune that has taken them to just beneath Hellgate Keep. Snorri fights with a one-headed Danish broadax that he always keeps in good condition. He's always quick with a story about Scandinavia and is fiercely loyal to his friends. His one quirk is that he tends to call all monstrous humanoids "trolls", leading to some humorous misunderstandings... Recently, after saving a great saint of the Church of Selune, Snorri had a number of brushes with death: First being captured by a cambion called the Baron who had taken residence in a castle overlooking a ruined Selunite monastery (he was rescued through the intervention of The Norse gods who were able to send a legion of Einherjar to free him), then he and his party were nearly killed in battle with a black dragon while crossing a vast swamp on the way back to Loudwater. However, the Valkyries finally came to claim Snorri, son of Ulfgar, son of Geat, son of Sven, son of Ragnar son of Hrothgar, son of Hrolf the One-Handed some three months after rescuing Loudwater from a horrible plague by returning with Saint Miriya. The party had gone out to explore a dungeon complex that appeared on a treasure map they had found. While travelling to the site, the party was set upon by a group of giants. Snorri, to defend his comrades, engaged one of the giants in battle. After striking a mighty blow on the giant, the monster returned with a blow that killed Snorri outright. His shaken friends returned with Snorri to have him raised, however, although Snorri was willing to return and pursue his blood oath against Zane, something prevented him from leaving Valhalla*, and so he remains there, fighting during the day, feasting in the presence of Odin, Thor, Tyr and a host of legendary heroes during the nights. Meanwhile, in Loudwater, his comrades gave him the ultimate honor for a Danish warrior: They took his remains, clothed him in his best clothes and armor, placed his beloved axe by his side and placed him, as well as grave goods for his trip to Valhalla on a pyre, which they set ablaze. *(namely, I rolled a 93% on the ressurection survival check, when I needed a 92 or below) Name: Olag Tyrmundsson Level: 3th Fighter/1st thief Alignment: Chaotic Good Deity: Once Kord (then he realized that Kord was a Seul Deity), now Olidammara Gender/Race: Human (Oerdian) DoB/Age: 571 CY in Nyrond, 26 years old Region: Nyrond Olag Tyrmundsson was born in the Woodverge region of Nyrond (the area of Nyrond that borders on the Empire of Iuz). His early life was that in a farming family -- long days, boring chores. He had never really wished for adventure (even though he was mesmerised by an adventuring uncle's stories), but nonetheless, adventure found him, in those years following the Greyhawk Wars. A mad duke had decided to take one last quixotic stab against Iuz and the Bandit Kingdoms and so recruited (by recruited read "drafted". For "drafted", read "was kidnapped from his family's home at the dead of night, given a chain shirt, a shield, weapons and placed in the ranks") and sent towards the Artonsomay River, with the aim of perhaps advancing all the way to Molag. They made it to the Artonsomay, at least. There, the Woodverge forces assembled, inexperienced, shaking, little more than peasants with spears, as a horde of orcs, evil humanoids and bandits charged at them. The set their spears, and prayed for the best. The Duke himself majestically advanced -- away from the enemy, leaving the trioops to be slaughtered. Olag had enough presence of mind to disguise himself under some dead long-standing comrades of two weeks until he was sure that the rampaging enemy had passed. Then he beat an orderly retreat (read -- "ran like hell for the border") and hoped that this slight military setback (read -- "crushing and humiliating defeat ordered by a total lunatic") wouldn’t entice the Iuzian forces to stage a counteroffensive. In the few years that followed, Olag wandered around, enriched slightly by his new-found chain, sword and spear, and soon fell in with a number of adventuring groups. There, he was recognized for three traits: an innate fighting prowess, a good-natured character and a complete klutziness and willingness to take bad advice in dungeons. Once, Olag nearly died running through an invisible acid-wall maze as he tried to take the most direct route (as per the suggestion of a fellow adventurer), only to find – painfully -- that the direct route was an invitation to disaster. Sometimes, however, Olag’s “direct” approach to adventuring has saved the lives of the party, as when he braved being blinded and deafened to stop a trap that would have killed the party. Olag has a great dislike of the Suel. Once, as the only Oerdian in an otherwise Suel party that was exploring the Amedio, he found himself the only advocate for the freedom of a group of Olman slaves. The rest of the party was quite ready to consign them to eternal bondage as the Suels considered the Olmans as little more than property. Olag's response was to say "to hell with you " and smash the Olman's chains. Ever since (due to that incident and the incessant not-so-good-natured ribbing him as being "subhuman"), Olag has gone out of his way to avoid traveling with Suels. After a few more adventures and misadventures, Olag retired into obscurity, a bit older, but not that much wiser (and even a bit poorer). Recently, he has resurfaced, traveling on the road to the Free City of Greyhawk, hoping to find another shot at fame, fortune and perhaps the day when he can enjoy the two without having to worry about his spleen being forceably divorced from the rest of him. |
| Sarella Starshine08-22-07, 07:18 PM | These are all from my home brew multi-continental world that have many imports from various other settings. Name: Sophrena Level: Rog 10/Assassin 8 Alignment: NE Deity: Mask Gender/Race: Female, human, shadow-walker Region: The content of Ire Sophrena was a character I was playing before I retired her and made her an NPC (retired her before she became evil). She works as chief assassin for the largest organized crime syndication in my setting. The crime syndicate poses as humble Mask worshipers who are willing to help those in need. The help, however, comes at a price. One of the main goals of the syndicate is to replace the worship of the local gods with the worship of Mask. Name: Sabina Stokys Level: Wiz 5/ Frost Mage 10 Alignment: CE Deity: None Gender/Race: Female, human DoB/Age: Unknown Region:The continent of Nord Sabina is an NPC I created recently. She is for the Nordic-style campaign I had thinked about doing, and in the process of creating. She is on the same world as Sophrena, but on a different continent. She is obsessed with winter and want to make the entire world a frozen waste land. She is currently hunting down a Greater Icy Heart (from frostburn) to make her dream a reality (with a bit of tinkering of course). |
| Walls08-25-07, 02:14 PM | bump! |
| zzo3808-25-07, 04:56 PM | First campaign (this is the only one that isn't Forgotten Realms): Name: Ingdangar (generated using Rinkworks) Level: Wizard 6 (I decided to select the class at random, as I have never played before) Alignment: NN Deity: (no deity) Gender/Race: Male Human (I decided to select the race at random, as I have never played before. Gender I filled in myself though) DoB/Age: Age 22 years, DoB unknown Region: (I don't know) I didn't really know how to play, so I wear leather armor and a shield (even as a wizard), and a mace (which I'm not proficient with), but I did things such as take "Morgen" dust, write equasions on paper, and speak in random languages at random times. I even played poker against the guards for some copper (I put in a silver and got some change), write numbers above some statues in the hallway and disguised ourselves as more statues (the DM later told us the statues were designed to attack us, not to help us, but we used it to out advantage), stole and broke a level 11 wizard's staff while I was prone (the staff sent out all of its charges everywhere, destroying all of his magic items (I didn't have any magic items) and dispeling other magic in the area, I didn't even know breaking the staff would do anything, but I soon found out, and the wizard was wearing ten rings and a bunch of other magical items!). So he decided to go to his office and steal Morgen's magic sword, I cast detect thoughts to figure that out, and then I cast mage hand to make the sword hit him (and it even disintegrated him). Later on I got a lizard familiar. So, even a level 6 wizard with no magic items can defeat a level 11 wizard with more magic items than is allowed, because he was stupid enough to leave the staff on his belt. Second campaign: Name: Simizireikmo (I just put random letter and made this up myself) Level: Gestalt Bard/Wizard 10 Alignment: NG Deity: (no deity) Gender/Race: Male Drakeling (from ADOM) DoB/Age: Age unknown (I'm not sure why I didn't fill it in) Region: (I don't know) This time I played better, I didn't wear any armor. Again I did strange things nobody was expecting. We were in another wizard's library for some reason I cannot remember, and the wizard that owned it summoned a manticore to attack us, so I decided to read one of his books. The book was blank (it was magically protected), so I threw it at the manticore and the manticore tried to eat the book, and the book exploded, dealing damage to the manticore. So I did it again with half of his remaining books (I picked up the largest one first, to do the most damage), and the manticore was dead, I used the wizard's own books against him. There was also a chest in that room another character was interested in (I didn't need the chest, but the other players wanted it), so we decided to put another of the wizard's books on top of the chest and shoot an arrow at it. That opened the chest. Later on we were in a dungeon, we found a fountain with a key in it, after the key was taken the water stopped and it was green smoke. So I thought, since there is no more water in the fountain, I have to put some water in the fountain. I didn't have any water, but another character had some whiskey she found in someone's cupboard, so I told her to pour the whiskey into the fountain. It worked. The smoke turned blue, and as we went downstairs the guards following us got drunk by the blue smoke. And the best one is: We found a locked room (the door was locked using hold portal). I cast a spell to change the aura to appear as cure light wounds, and another character had a black disc to bypass the door (it was still locked once we got inside). Another wizard found the door and wanted to open it, he said "Cure light wounds? What, is it going to turn back into a tree?" So he decided to break the door with a wand, and he told his soldiers to go away and come back when you hear a loud bang. I decided to bang the wall with a quarterstaff to make the noise myself, and one of his soldiers came back and the wizard said "You foolish! I didn't break the door yet!" and proceeded to polymorph the soldier into a pig. Here is my character's inventory at the completion of the current quest: quarterstaff, crossbow, dagger, parchment, chalk, dust, 46 rocks, 2 pairs of underwear (it isn't my underwear), candle, meat, bread, cheese, 40 blank forms, supply form for wheat, 39 blank sheets of paper, my spellbook, a spellbook containing teleport, 50 ft rope, weekend pass, wand of paralyze (3 charges), another wizard's spellbook (encrypted), a ring of protection from poison, Staff of the Necromancer, 40 ft rope with a hook, a lute, 75 copper pieces, 44 silver pieces, 7 gold pieces. This is the newest campaign (when the missing player gets a chance to play we may continue the old campaign and characters as well): Name: VYB (it was generated randomly using dice) Level: Psion 3 Alignment: NG (no tendencies, I haven't been playing long enough to figure it out) Deity: (no deity) Gender/Race: Gender=N/A, Rance=Dromite DoB/Age: Age 19 years, DoB in DR I don't know (the DM hasn't told us yet) Region: So far only Waterdeep, but my character's home region is Chult (favored region for psionics) I haven't been playing very long, but is 2 characters (Vyb and Sir Schmoopy), we are becoming new members of Harper. |
| Walls08-30-07, 01:10 PM | Kobolds are the new drow! ;) |
| Ecalsneerg08-30-07, 01:17 PM | This uses the 3rd party Arcanis setting, so if you don't get some of the stuff, I'm providing a rough translation after it :P Name: Markus Longstrider (real surname not ever given to him) Level: Ranger 2 Alignment: Chaotic Good. Often slightly more Neutral than Good. Deity: Saluwe Gender/Race: Male Dark-Kin DoB/Age: 20, birthday has never actually come up... Region: Old Coryan The Translation Bar Saluwe: Goddess of earth, Feritlity, Nature and (the aspect I don't worship) Women :P Dark-Kin: Basically a kind of Tiefling, only will no spell-like abiltities, and you choose Infernal abiltities. Coryan: The Coryani Empire is an in-game country, similar to the Roman Empire. |
