What do I need to play D&D? Players need the Players Handbook. You can order these online very cheap often used for good deals. Otherwise bookstores like Waldens & Borders carry them. Dungeon Masters need the Players Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide, & Monster manual. Also you will need a set of dice(d20, d12,d10,d8,d6,d4), grid, and minis. Do I have to buy D&D minis? No, if you dont have the buck. They are a nice touch as a prop. Your players can often find minis like thier pcs. You can use legos, poker chips, checkers, d6s, whatever. I dont have a grid, what to do? Mabye have the gaming buddies chip in the cash to get one. You can use a chess board as a grid. The dmg comes with one. Many gaming shops carry nice grids that wash off with marker. What is D&D? D&D is a great game of roleplaying. You and your friends play a role in the world as the pcs. You guide the pcs into what you want them to do. Your hero can be anything you want her to be, knight, wizard, defender of pelor, whatever you like. The dm controls the world and acts as a judge to your actions in the game world. The rules guide to what happens when you want to do something. You can be defending Istar from war, exploring the Haunted Woods, Fighting the dragon to protect your home town, and explore lost tomes of the Lost eleven king of summer stars. Welcome to the hobby that has given millions the chance to have fun with friends. I need adventures, what to do? In the downloads section of this site, thier is many free adventures ready for your group to tackle and claim the glories of the realms. Many sites have downloadable adventures. Search on google. ALso if you have the buck, wotc makes a adventure path seris. A big one in this edition of the game is The Sunless Citadeal. 4th edition, when will it come? This is a touchy subject here. Thier is no news from wotc for a new edition of the game. Starting threads on it is well, for the most part not liked. Thier is gaming products being made up to Late-2006. What is a powergamer and munchkin? This also a touchy subject here. Everyone has different views on it, so please respect people. powergamer- A person who is out for the best of thier pc. Numbers, the highest AC,BAB, Build come first. They like to have lots of magic idems. They try to have the highest, the best. munchkin- A person who basicly cheats the rules in favor thier pc. They will say that x rule does this, when by the raw it is wrong. It is the worst insult to give a gamer. I need character sheets! You can photocopy the phb ones to use. Here on the wizards of the coast site, many are able to be downloaded. All over the web, people make custom sheets threw Excel. Search threw google. If your straped for cash, you can make your own by pen & paper. Wotc has character sheet books you can buy.
