My wife and I went to Bermuda last week. On Thursday we were exploring around our resort and we found a cave right under the hotel. The cave was well-lit but very cave-like with huge stalactites dripping into a larger underground pool.

There was a small table and a pair of chairs there. As soon as I saw it I thought 'how cool would it be to play D&D down here". So I ran back to our room, grabbed my zip-lock bag full of D&D miniatures, and ran a small two-encounter scenario with my wife playing four PC-style minis and me playing an evil party and an epic chain devil. We used one of the more cave-like maps.

It was a lot of fun and I bet there are few D&D players who get to play in such fun settings.

So where are the weirdest places you've played D&D?

While I wouldn't qualify mine as weird, it is definitely different. My family likes to camp, as I have a big RV that I use to travel for performing. When I'm not performing, we are pretty much camping with it. One of the fun things we do is to set up my HD projector outside and hang an 8' screen off our van so we can watch movies by the campfire. Add a cheap DVD/home theater system from Walmart, and it feels a lot like a drive-in movie. Well, our gaming group uses a VT called Maptools for our battlegrid, and occasionally we play outside by the campfire, using the projector and screen to display the encounters. Another fun little feature is playing all of my sound effect environments and background music through the little surround system outside. Listening to those creepy noises while outside at a campground next to a fire sets a really fun tone for the game! :)
