| The_Levitator08-23-07, 12:55 PM | I found this link D&D Drinks thread (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?p=1297667) and some of them sound REALLY good! In addition to great drinks for gaming, our group also occasionally like to include foods that seem D&D appropriate. Not that Doritos and Mountain Dew don't have their place at the gaming table, but sometimes it's fun to get a little deeper into the "spirit" of things! :D |
| Rogue Elendae08-27-07, 12:02 AM | Personally, though I don't always drink it while playing (I just love the stuff, in any situation), I like cider (the hard kind, mind you) of various flavors and brands. Some of my favorites include Fox Barrel, Magners (properly called Bulmers, if you're from Ireland), Hornsby's, and Wyder's. I'd say it's kind of D&D-ish, at that...more often than not, my characters are as likely to order it as they are ale, when in a tavern. Never thought on D&D theme cocktails, though. Thought a lot on booze based in the D&D setting I've been working on (my world's Halflings make a lot of fruit wines that most other races think of as something more appropriate topping pancakes, for instance), but never thought of anything regarding real-world alcoholic beverages. |
| Zousha_Omenohu08-27-07, 02:00 AM | Hunh. The only alcohol of note that was consumed in my D&D experiences was Mishmush, or "The Good Stuff" as it was introduced as. When one of the characters asked for "the good stuff" at the local tavern, the dwarven bartender (my brother insisted that all the bartenders in our games had to be dwarves), reached under the counter and pulled up what appeared to be a large whiskey jug, except that there were no X's on the sides to indicate the strength of the alcohol. When asked about this, the bartender showed them the bottom of the jug, which had a spiral of hundreds of X's on it, meaning that this stuff was stronger than strong. How strong was it? Well, one sip was enough to put a grown man under the table. For the life of me I have no idea where they came up with the name "Mishmush" though. |

| Fatalis_90208-27-07, 09:57 AM | The Stabby Goblin sounds good. It's found on imjustdrinking.com. The Stabby Goblin Mix 2 oz. Creme de Menthe, 1 oz. Cointreau, and 1 oz. Gin in a highball glass, over three ice cubes. Pick up nearest sharpest implement and stab your neigbour. Continue to drink and stab until unconcious. WARNING: The Surgeon General has found that stabbing is one of the leading causes of external and internal bleeding. Please stab responsibly. Some OOTS inspired beverages: Varsuuvius' Edification Potion Spell Components: 67.628045118 fl ounces Ginger Ale 4 cups and one teaspoon unsweetened Pineapple Juice 2 pints White Cranberry Peach Cocktail 30 ml Lemon Juice After calculating the correct conversions and computing the required vessel size (and taking into account issues of surface tension and cohesion), in an immaculately hygienic cauldron, amalgamate precisely-measured quantities of the above ingredients, in reverse order starting with the third ingredient from the top. Before adding the fourth component, slowly recite "venefici incito veneratio" while waving your arms in an awe-inspiring fashion. Serve over ice only to those of your companions who have proven themselves suitably appreciative of your efforts on their behalf. The Belkar Take a fifth of Jack Daniel's and mix in Human Blood to taste. Or Elven blood. Or Kobold blood. As long as it's blood. Stab anyone who tries to cut you off. For really classy occasions, serve from the skull of a brained kobold. The Elan Pour 12 oz of Ginger Ale into a sippy cup. Mix in the contents of one Juice Box (any flavor). Chill by adding ice and singing "Chill, chill, chill the refreshing beverage!" and last but not least, The Order of the Stick Build 1/2 oz Southern Comfort, 1/2 oz Peach Schnapps and 1/2 oz Sloe Gin over ice in an 11 oz. glass. Looks and tastes like a big stick popsicle. |
