This is definently not final, but, I was wondering if the rumors were true that DnD will have an upcoming MMORPG either on the computer or on the next gen. systems (Xbox360, PS3)?

I was thinking an ultimate brew of Star Wars Galaxies, KOTOR, and Icewind Dale games thrown into one big caldron.

It would be awesome to see a high detailed world of Faerun on a MMORPG. And maybe a supremo DM system that allows custimization to the maximum. Where there is a group of players like DnD, that meet online together, and the DM creates the plots, places and NPCs.

A great big extent of custimization for the players part would be awesome. With ever class, prestige class, etc. And maybe they could even choose their characters fighting style, like how he/she swings their weapon and such. and of course unlimited appearances for the player to choose from.

So, is this true, and, would do you think of this?

There is a D&D MMORPG in development. It will be based in Eberron, although I believe the initial setting is in a section of Eberron not currently developed in the books (not in the continent that encompases Sharn, etc). More information is probably easier to find in the Digital D&D forum.

Its definately coming out, you can find previews for it online.
Exactly how it will be different from everquest, WOW and the rest is left to be seen.

Unless it's something particularly ground breaking in terms of MMORPGs, I'm sure it's going to suck horribly.

DDO is being made by Turbine and has what can considered houserules:
*10 levels (with steps of advancement between levels). Will include 11-20 at a later point.
*Instanced areas (No more of "I hope somebody didn't kill our spawn". It's just you and your party)
*Action based combat (No more "press auto-attack and go make a sandwwich")
*And as a result of the above: Spellpoints (*Puts on flame-tan*)

Sounds interesting to me, especially that part about combat.
