D&D newbs (I was once one) [Archive] - Wizards Community

while I was getting some new books in gamers paradiseI came across 2 people in their late teens that wanted to play D&D they played 2.0 but never even knew there was a 3.5. So i decided to help them from making a HUGE mistake of buying the forgotton relms and a monster manual.

I perswaded them to go for the PHB and the DMG in addition to the MM and Forgoton relms if you want. They were gonna play with I think 3 spell casters and a rogue. I strongly advised aginst this and wantd to ask her to try to persuade one to be a dmg dealing class such as fighter or monk. To sum up the rest I told her to get a starter campeign (comes in a book) and heros of battle once she gets good.

06-03-05, 10:16 PM What's wrong with three spellcasters and a rogue? The party in my most recent campaign had a cleric, a druid, a wizard and rogue. They were not lacking in the direct combat department.

06-03-05, 11:58 PM ya i got the basic game frist about 3 years ago and then the PHB,DMG, MM, forgotten realms, MMII, MM3, FF, living greyhawk, eberron, and more FR books. i have over 20 books now ;)
