| LadyJorasco11-29-07, 02:56 PM | i noticed there arent too many d&d groups on facebook.....anyone know why that is? |
| Krusk11-29-07, 03:34 PM | Because no one has made any? Most of the groups i join on facebook express an opinion i have about a certian issue, such as my ever important "citizens for the return of facial hair to all political candidates" group. That group shows my values and beliefs. Its hard to make a DND group that does that. Its actually probably because DND is uncool, and facebook is for cool people. |
| LadyJorasco11-29-07, 03:50 PM | nooooooo!!! im cool!!! (i hope.......) :weep: |
| Orenmir11-29-07, 03:54 PM | Facebook is targetted at High Schoolers and College kids. That crowd is way too insecure to claim they are a part of something so nerdy like D&D. It would ruin their image. Of course, that's a generalization to validate the reason. I'm sure there are some secure teenagers out there that aren't afraid of admitting they play D&D. Kudos, to those. |
| LadyJorasco11-29-07, 04:12 PM | i think we need to unite and get those closet d&ders proselitizing the good news insted of hiding in shame!!!! |
| Watsyurname52911-29-07, 04:19 PM | Because like Orenmir has said, D&D is viewed as a nerdy/geeky game. Some people don't want to admit that they play. There are not that many people who play that are on facebook to begin with. But there are 2 D&D Groups I've joined and one has 800+ ppl and the other has 1,700+ ppl in the group. |
| LadyJorasco11-29-07, 04:23 PM | ive joined a couple groups myself....i DID notice a fair number of campaign groups for example a few eberron campaigns had groups that all the players and dm(s) had joined and i thought that was pretty neat.....but we need more d&d love methinks!!! :D |
| maxt6011-29-07, 05:33 PM | I have created a group for us on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6153269674 check it out!! |
| LadyJorasco11-29-07, 05:37 PM | totally joined up!!!1 awesome!!!! |
| Narf_the_Mouse11-29-07, 08:54 PM | I must admit I'm a little cool. But being in the house is warming me up. |
| Mentis_Veio11-30-07, 12:22 AM | I go to the Univeristy of Kentucky, and one half-drunken night I decided to see fi there were any D&D groups for UK. I searched, and it came up with nothing. So I started one (ha!). It's a college-based group, so only people from UK can join. If you DO go to UK, however, go to the groups search and type in "I play Dungeons and Dragons - UK Chapter". Also, if you go to UK, respond to this, cause I'm looking for another gaming group! |
| davethebrave37111-30-07, 12:47 AM | Oh man! LadyJorasco, one of those Eberron campaign groups was totally mine. Uxthurirl. It means (roughly translated) "Platinum Brotherhood" in Draconic, and it's the name of my players' characters' adventuring guild in my bi-weekly Eberron game! That's awesome that you're trying to promote D&D on Facebook. Ima add yo azz, LadyJ! |

| annoyinglizardvoice12-03-07, 02:38 PM | I didn't know there were any d+d groups on facebook at all. Most of my roleplay group is on facebook, but we don't have a group membership or anything, we just say we rp on the "how do you know someone bit". |
| davethebrave37112-03-07, 04:03 PM | i wasnt aware my azz was on facebook!! hahaha lol ima add you back! Sweet deal! :D |
| mogarth12-03-07, 04:56 PM | cause facebook sucks and is stupid |
| mathew9912-04-07, 04:14 AM | :D joind dah group!!! |
| peril12-05-07, 08:13 AM | Hi everyone, just to let you know I have joined a few D&D groups on Facebook, but most just seem that they want to argue all the time. So the d&d group that I run, decided to record our sessions and broadcast them on the internet, and get people involved that way. We have attracted 2 new 'real life' players as a result, and have broadcast 7 episodes so far, with nearly 500 downloads. We have also created a listener controlled character, that we want dnd'ers to suggest actions for. Listen/download for free at http://www.brfm.mypodcast.com Interact with our players at http://www.freewebs.com/dndatbrfm Email us at studio@brfm.co.uk |
| PurpleRain12-06-07, 06:24 PM | Listen to me, if you continue to admit to playing D&D then you will never be a rockstar and get the hot babes to ask you to sign their tities. You will eventually fall into the treckee and then the evil and cursed battlestar galactica crowd. admission of D&D is a gateway drug. Soon your cool friends will be running away from you because you are attempting to discuss class alignment very loudly in the middle of the old country buffet. Then he will scream something to the effect of "BUT DONT YOU THINK IN DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS THAT IT SHOULD BE POSSIBLE TO MAKE A NEUTRAL ALIGNMENT MONK IF HE IS STILL DEVOUT. I MEAN IN A MONESTARY YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW RULES BUT IN DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE FOR A NEUTRAL ALIGNMENT MONK TO FOLLOW THE RULES IN DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS" You will wish him dead. So STOP IT. P.S. you are a nerd if you wish your character to touch ******* (means you cant get any) Have never dated anyone (Means you can't talk to women) or have those ugly ass colorful 80 dollar shoes. I don't care if they are nike thy look like ****! |
| PurpleRain12-06-07, 06:25 PM | P.P.S. you can only spell tities with two t's without a bleep oh fucdgek |
| Breetai12-06-07, 06:39 PM | Its actually probably because DND is uncool, and facebook is for cool people. We're too geeky for the internet?!?! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! |
| SirTristen12-06-07, 09:33 PM | HEY!!!! im in highschool and i play DnD :P and im not afraid to admit it... i might try and join that group because none of my friends play :( |
| Edymnion12-06-07, 10:05 PM | Because MySpace and Facebook are for people that are obsessed with wanting other people, people they don't know, to like them, or think they are cool. Basically, its a bunch of insecure teenagers and early 20 somethings that need people to tell them that they don't suck to have any sense of self worth. As a general rule of thumb, D&D players are the type that don't need that kind of external praise to think that they are worthwhile. Many of us are basically geeks that learned a long time ago to find value in ourselves despite what other people think, and hence don't need somebody constantly telling us we're good little boys and girls all the time in order to be happy. Seriously, how many D&D players do you know that were Mr/Miss Popular in school? How many of us here ever honestly gave a damn about what "the popular kids" thought? Thats what MySpace and Facebook are, glorified popularity contests. Many of us didn't give a damn about that nonsense in school, and we still don't, hence you don't tend to find many people that actively use those sites that also play D&D. |

| Alpha_Moose12-06-07, 10:25 PM | Because MySpace and Facebook are for people that are obsessed with wanting other people, people they don't know, to like them, or think they are cool. I'm going to have to disagree with that. I've used Facebook mostly to keep in touch with many friend I have that don't live in my state (I've moved around a bit). I could do many of those things with e-mail, but there is a bit of convenience with Facebook. That's what most people I know use it for. I can't personally say anything about MySpace, but from what I've heard it is much less moderated than Facebook. |

Originally, it was Harvard's facebook, in the traditional sense of a facebook, only online. So it was less of a popularity contest and more of a "get to know your classmates" sort of thing. Then it went to more universities, and then to pretty much every post-secondary institute, then to anyone with an eMail addy. Now it's a clusterfunk of everything, like any popular website, like YouTube, MySpace, or whatever. But I have to agree with Alpha_Moose. I personally use it to keep in touch with people who have moved away, etc. That's what most people I know use it for. |
| GoukaRyuu12-07-07, 09:07 AM | My D&D group is on facebook (Speak Brave Warriors of the Ruby Chalice) because everyone in my group is in college or an alumni and it is easy to keep in touch. |
