And, if enough people reply, then BBC (and other media) will give D&D (and role-playing in general) some more coverage. Hence more acceptance, hence more new players, hence...

In the UK many RPG cons raise money for charity, thousands of pounds at some events. It would be great for the media to pick up on this kind of stuff too.
