| Tillie_the_Pirate08-13-06, 02:45 PM | I couldn't find another place in the forums to post about this, so here goes. Wizards of the Coast, what were you thinking releasing DDO: Stormreach for Windows only. You are all banish-ed. |
| Sarella Starshine08-13-06, 04:47 PM | prob because over 90% of home computers are windows-based? Those that don't are wack jobs that don't want to do MMORPGs anyways :P (BTW that entire last line was a total joke) |

A better place would be at DDO.com (http://www.ddo.com/index.php) or at Atari.com (http://atari.com/). I believe the only things WotC has to do with the game is to license it out and to approve the content. |
| green_yawgmoth08-13-06, 09:38 PM | Because Macs are useful as paperweights, and little else. There's a reason no one bothers to make viruses for mac products: they kill themselves faster than any hacker could. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v91/yawgmoth/kittyjig.gif |
| Masterfulks08-14-06, 02:18 AM | It's not a very long lasting experience. I wish ddo could have lived up to what DnD is. Unfortunately it's turned into a combat engine. It would be worth it if it did not have a monthly fee. For 15 bucks a month no way.... I'm crossing my fingers that Age of Conan takes up the slack. |

As Steve Jobs said at the 1997 Keynote, you have to Think Different to buy a Mac. Clearly, you not only fail to think differently from everybody else, but bash the computers of the innovators and geniuses in our society. I'm kind of amused. |
| Xenephon08-14-06, 08:17 AM | Of course the true reason DDO: Stormreach was only released for Windows is that it is the only fitting punishment for Windows users that they should be subjected to such an excerable "game"! |
| Masterfulks08-14-06, 12:27 PM | Macs are not worth the price tag to me... Although aren't they supposed to be able to fully run windows now or soon? Then again I don't see why I'd pay extra cash for a mac, only to run it like a normal windows machine. Lack of gaming software kills the mac for me. People consider them better for editing video and stuff, but unless that's your hobby I see no reason to spec a machine just for that. A windows machine can edit video just fine. |
| Ramenth08-14-06, 12:43 PM | Because DDO is like Guildwars without the innovation or the PVP. Seriously, its a really bad game. Just wait two months and get Neverwinter Nights Two. |

I personally am very amused, because you sound like the mould from which all of the carbon copy pretentious idiots who swear by macs were cast. So much so that I'm praying that the above post is a joke. Macintosh needs to stick to making pretty little peripherals for emo kids, and let the people who know what they're doing make the real computers. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v91/yawgmoth/kittyjig.gif |

Okay, again, you guys clearly don't know what you're talking about. This is an urban myth, it is not real. At the latest Keynote, Jobs compared the price of Mac computers to PC computers with the same capabilities and features. Macs were like 200-700 dollars less. Macs cost less than PCs now, and it's a fact people will have to learn to face. The individual price may be more, but you get quite the pack with your punch. Face it, you get nothing with the cheap PC computers of today. |
| Masterfulks08-14-06, 05:57 PM | Bull... You can get a new computer for under 400 bucks these days. Have mac's dropped down that far in price yet? You say with similar features....what exactly does that mean? What features? Most people use computers for email, internet, and some basic word processing. There is no reason to pay extra to get a mac just to do these basic tasks. The next group would be gamers, who perfer to have games that work on their system so they would avoid a mac. Then you have professional who do whatever they do with their computers beyond the basics. |

PCs come with everything you'd need for basic computer use (internet, word processing, etc.) and are cheaper than macs because your "quite the pack" comes with a bunch of crap your average user doesn't use, or know how to use. One more thing: If they were so great, why does my school's art department clamor for PCs over macs every year? I have yet to hear someone say "I wish I had a mac", but there's plenty of "this mac is such a POS. I've had to take it to the helpdesk 7 times this month" to go around. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v91/yawgmoth/kittyjig.gif |

WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE D&D ONLINE GAME?? |

God knows when i was first learning how to use a PC (my first computer was a Mac), i was constantly baffeled at how a PC works and was constantly asking for help, and in fact to this day, i still have no clue how to run DOS, even though, i am of the generation that should know. a lack of familarity with a product does not make said product 'inferior'. |

| a_psh08-15-06, 05:49 PM | Does anybody have anything to say about Windows vs. Mac OS (don't call it "PC vs. Mac" -- all desktops are personal computers and everything runs on x86 now, anyway) that we haven't all heard before? ... No? Thought so. Why don't we all just drop it then? |
| Benicus08-15-06, 06:03 PM | Conan! By crom! I can't wait for that to come out, I also hope it takes up the enormous slack where ddo left off. |
| Aeolius08-15-06, 06:11 PM | Tillie, no worries, D&D Online was going to be set in Eberron, anyway. ;) (diverting OS wars back into nice, on topic, campaign world wars) |
| Gemstone08-15-06, 06:18 PM | I find mac to be more of a "specialized" computer than the average PC. True, I haven't exactly used Mac as much as a PC (less than 0.1% :P) but when I've used it, I've always got the feeling of "hey, this may work helluva much better than PC/windows for this and that, but not for me" In the end, I think it come down to personal reference. A gamer and roleplayer like me, prefers PC because of the wide array of programs and other such things, while those who love working with graphics and such they prefer MAC because of the stability (i've yet to see a mac crash, or even see proof of a MAC crashing) and the functionality. So guys, stop bashing your heads at the screen and go bash some goblins instead (i've heard the Silvermoors have a lot of those pesky little creature's this year...) |
