| Sezotove07-30-06, 10:41 PM | I have an idea for a program that will allopw players to play online in a chatroom like yahopo or aim or msn, it will have certain addons for D&D like buttons that have dice listed and when click it rolls that dice and the program will randomly generate the number like for a D4 it will "roll" it and randomly get 1-4 ect... and it would have voice and i can get a server for it to be run on, i have more ideas like the DM has certain things on his side of the program or a seprate one for it and like the dm has or can see a copy of the character sheets...characters can be made in the program i haveeven more ideas for it any one else like it?? |
| Seeker9507-30-06, 10:43 PM | I'd check out rpol.net and make sure it can do at least as much as that set-up. Otherwise, it will just be AIM all over again. |
| Sezotove07-30-06, 10:50 PM | umm i check and its a forum and the pourpse of this program is to elimniate the playing of RPGS in a forum but mainly D&D |
| Tempest Stormwind07-30-06, 10:51 PM | This already exists. (http://www.openrpg.com) |
| Sezotove07-30-06, 11:20 PM | .. ive dled it an installed it but im not liking it atm so ill keep trying |

Or, even if you're not, you can go add bug reports / feature requests on Sourceforge. |

I have an idea for a program that will allopw players to play online in a chatroom like yahopo or aim or msn,IRC-style chat interface with formatting, check. it will have certain addons for D&D like buttons that have dice listed and when click it rolls that dice and the program will randomly generate the number like for a D4 it will "roll" it and randomly get 1-4 ect...Dieroller, check. (It can even be expanded, and there's a die toolbar) and it would have voiceTeamSpeak's free. This is the one area OpenRPG doesn't automatically have. and i can get a server for it to be run on, Built-in server software, check.i have more ideas like the DM has certain things on his side of the program Virtual DM screen: keep nodes on the DM's local computer. Check.or a seprate one for itDM-only options (like the built-in plugins), check. and like the dm has or can see a copy of the character sheets...Character sheets are submitted to the DM. Check.characters can be made in the programYou can download or build our own nodes, or use the node provided, to make your own characters. Check. Soooooooo.....? And if that's STILL not enough, join the OpenRPG2 project. It's Open Source. The sequel program will also be in Java (as opposed to Python). |

| Sezotove07-31-06, 09:37 AM | ok well i did overlook it again and i began to understand it more and its more than i thought it would be but my idea is a little more sleek and a diffrent design at first it seemed to had to start a server which i never figured out but i did get a room and it will work for now, untill i finish mine and i may go for the openrpg2, i just had a diffrent prespective on what on the interphase. |
| Tempest Stormwind07-31-06, 01:44 PM | 1) The interface is just an XML file. Feel free to customize it. 2) To start your own server, didn't you notice the big Start Server command in the Server menu? Right under Browse Servers? Or the link in your program groups to the python script for OpenRPG Server? 3) Even if you don't want to start your own server, you can use other people's servers just fine -- in fact, the Dev servers and the Veav server are designed for this. (My weekly OpenRPG game is always on the VEAV server, just in a passworded room.) Nameless One: Damn straight. |
| Sezotove07-31-06, 10:01 PM | lol...ill lookinto the XML and i did see the button but it was a little confusing considering i didint take too long to lok at it we just made a room....and yea we used the veav server....ummm we are going to start a campign and i will probably get them to dl teamspeak......well ill probably still try and make my idea of the program but for now this is great! thnx for the replies if anyone is starting a campign or would elt mejoin one let me know i would too! |
