D&D over aim? [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-04-06, 08:46 PM Well well well. I am going to TRY *gasps from audience* to initate a Dungeons and Dragons game over the instant messaging system of AIM.
So far I have no planning, preperations, or bascially anything but said program and this post. I want to know who would be interested in playing, dming, assisting with the logistics, exetera exetera exetera! (Cookie to whoever gets the refference.) Now, if anyone wants to be apart of this, you may instant message me at my online name: Gest Nihilus (aol instant mesaging service) or post in this thread. I think it would be a wonderful thing to start, I am hoping it will be your average weekly gaming session, only via the internet. Any suggestions, affirmations or declarations of our damnation may be voiced AND apreciated!

I've got v2.3 completed offline and will update when I think it's worth it, as opposed to simply patching it) is available at RPGSheets.com (look for the AD&D 3rd Edition OpenRPG sheets, and you'll see it). Incidentally, if anyone here builds nodes for it, I'd like to exchange notes: I'm trying to remove the need to enter Design mode at all from the sheet, at least from a casual player's perspective.

EDIT: Just to make it clear, I don't have time to game in more than the game I'm in at the moment.

12-06-06, 12:24 AM Ventrillo allows you to speak online. It is free as well.
Combining it with open is pretty effective.

Im sure we can work a schedule that works for most people. I already discussed some ideas with Smaug The Fiery over aim, and we agree on the following:

Starting level- 4-8
A new wealth system. A cp is roughly the equivilent to one USD, a silver is $10 and a gold is $100.
Starting gold is rolled for. 1d20+5 copper, 1d12+2 silver, 1d4-1 gold (minimum 0)
In addition to starting packages or what not, each player has acces to ONE magical item. It can be custom made, or out of a book, but it must be run through and cleared by the DM. (No, I can't DM, I'm horrible.) I was thinking somthing along the lines of a ring of fireball once per day, or maybe a +1 Flaming Burst Longsword, somthing relativly low power.

Your character may be any core race you want, and any class you want as long as you meet the requierments. Thats right, NO kobolds, goblin or half-orc dwarven defenders. Elves MAY weild greatswords, dwarves MAY wield rapiers, and katanas have the following stats (sorry fanboys):
Martial Weapon (1d8+str mod) 19-20x2

Your alignment depends on your actions, not vice versa.

12-06-06, 08:53 PM let me play plz. i currently play dnd at my house every sunday and tuesday night with 4 friends. i cant do it wedsday but other than that im open and would love to try a game of dnd over the net my AOL instant messenger is (zosh184) im usually on between 8:30 and 9:30
