| RDQ03-20-05, 07:57 PM | The title says it all. Me and a couple others are coming up with ways to prank or friends try to keep it SEMI-humane |
| Seeker9503-21-05, 09:27 AM | Use sealing wax on the bindings of someone's PHB. Harmless, but oh-so-time-consuming to remove. Make a fruit jell-o mold, using their dice as the fruit. Take their character sheet. Scan it as an image. Reverse the image. Print. Return. Schedule a game for that day. Leave a note on the door announcing the April Fool. (Then give the correct location... 'cause who wants to lose a gaming opp, even for a joke?) At said game, resolve initiatives by DM-ruled contests of "Not it!" Schedule a game the night before. Serve cokes (or other dark sodas) with blue food coloring in them (to hide the color). Be certain to have an encounter with green slime. Be very descriptive in its attacks, including phrases like "seeping into your pores" and "sliding into your orifices". The next day, when they go to pee, it will be green. The encounter (if you were descriptive enough) will come to mind. |

| Seeker9503-21-05, 10:05 PM | The cokes and blue food coloring works even better if you can add a vitamin B supplement. B-complex works best (I recoomend Shaklee -- they enter the system more completely). B-complex turns your urine a much brighter yellow. This mixes much better with the blue food coloring to give a much brighter green. However, giving drugs (even vitamins) is not the best of ideas. |
| RDQ03-22-05, 09:19 AM | Ya but hey thaks to you we have our second prank... the first one is blackening their teeth... |

| Lord Tarran03-22-05, 09:40 PM | Well just because the joke is found doesn't mean this thread should die! THREAD RESSURECTION!!!! Some goodies: Replace all of someone's die with jelly beans, or vice versa. Watch for choking though. Place a small tutu on all the miniatures some one owns. If your DM uses music, change CDs before play, something funny and anti-climatic. Like Wierd Al, or showtunes from happy plays. Scan a character sheet. Replace char picture with one of a dancing bear, or other goofy thing. Return newly printed character sheet. IN GAME: Forget the halfing is there, and ask to roll trample when passing over him. Laugh maniacly. No reason, just do so. Come on everyone! April fool's is coming, and we shuld get as many ideas as possible down! |

April fool's is coming, and we shuld get as many ideas as possible down! Only prob is our halfling is also our shapshifter and the guy I'll prob be dating after prom. As for the laughing menianicly--I do that anyway :D |
| RDQ03-23-05, 08:09 PM | Come on ppl this ain't that hard... |
| RDQ03-24-05, 09:01 PM | Someone? Anyone? |
| Lord Dracos03-24-05, 09:55 PM | Create a half-dragon monkey. Attack. Kill. Repeat. Laugh. * Perfect kind of strange, doncha think? ;) *Alternatively. use another CR fraction animal. |
| RDQ03-25-05, 09:37 AM | Cool...in that weird strange mutated sorta way |
| Ogre4Hire03-25-05, 02:09 PM | IC: Ask everyone you meet if they know where the Holy Handgrenade of Anteoch is. Ask your DM if your character can have a Vorpal Herring. Build a giant wooden badger. Attack the gazeebo. When you find a skull, declare that it's the Head of Vecna. Get some Duct Tape of Healing & a Henchman. |
| RDQ03-26-05, 12:38 PM | Me and the other girl in the group have got a couple more that we're gunna scare the guys with :D :D |
| Azual03-26-05, 02:41 PM | evil stuff... hmmm... im pullin up a blank nothin sorry OH YES Dragon issue 330! Flaws for commoners im so taking the corpse flaw! |
| Titan W03-26-05, 03:03 PM | Pour honey/corn syrup on thier dice (Wihtout their knowing)... priceless... they don't really roll well... and it comes off after a soak in warm water... |
| Seeker9503-26-05, 05:00 PM | Well, for one session, you could go back to using THAC(0). That'll drive most 3e players batty. Or give everything the PCs encounter a +10 circumstance bonus to all rolls. April Fool's Day is the circumstance. The DM is always right. At the start of the first encounter, provide very exaggerated initial descriptions, getting more and more impossible until a player finally says "you've got to be kidding" or something similar. At that time respond "Yup. April Fool!" |
| Koofoo9503-27-05, 01:27 AM | Steal the DM's notes(warning may cause player death in high numbers) In game cast grease on a random step and watch the commoners tumble! |
| roguebfl03-28-05, 01:28 AM | um anyone rember Wizard april foolfs joke ..the annousment of Blankies & Diapers? |
| TiggerLilly03-28-05, 01:47 AM | ive got a couple... i like all yalls though, but the takeing of dms notes arent a good idea... since... characters can die quickly and not only thos ein the game. so um... lets see exchange the dms dice with someone elses and then put his dice under his chair that way he/she cant frame you i like the music idea... but try disney music... like the song "zipadeedoda" that would be funny or you could somehow weight the dms dice so all he rolls are 1's maybe a 2 i have one more prank... i would never try it but... yeah... mix up the shaving cream and whip cream or something like that.... ahhh... hey, someone has to rename the classics. |
| Plastik03-28-05, 02:39 AM | Let's get a DM's perspective here. Now these are cruel, and kinda Grimm traps (if you get the refrence chuckle. If you don't don't ask). 1. The players are walking (carelessly as always) down a corridor. One stumbles as a stone lowers into the ground when he steps on it. Seeing as he'll likely know what's going to happen, make it clearly too late for him. 10 feet behind the party, an iron gate drops, blocking exit. Then the air noise starts. A large stone block is careening down the corridor. There's an inch of space between it and the wall. It's rushing like a drunk driver down the HOV lane on the wrong side of the highway. It hits the PCs, dealing some minor impact damge and pushing them along to about 5 feet from the gate. here it shudders to a stop (if the need comes up to explain, there's a foot-thick iron chain holding it against the wall). Nobody dies, but clerly engraved in te rock is some Elven (or other language some party member knows) that reads: "APRIL FOOLS". 2. Not so much a trap, but the local town (Who ADORES the PCs) sets up a lynch mob in the middle of the night, wanting blood. They drag out the PCs, set them up on gallows, chant etc and when the floors drop, the PCs fall down (the ropes go with them) into a closed chamber with the words APRIL FOOLS scribed on the wall. The rooms are loaded with goodies from the town to show appreciation for their hard work. |
| Deflare03-28-05, 02:42 AM | April Fool's Day = Fun with Cursed Items Day. :D A Belt of Giant Strength that makes the wearer the opposite gender when s/he wears it! Amulets of Natural Armor that make the wearer's clothes and armor invisible! +2 swords that always cut their wielder's belt when sheathed! Ring of Aphrodesia: When worn, everyone attracted to your gender will relentlessly pursue you no matter where you go! Can be fun to combine this with monster encounters. ;) Belt of Viagra: Can only be worn by a male; won't clasp and just falls off a female. Guess what this does? :D Boots of Antigravity: Causes wearer to feel like gravity is going the wrong way, so they walk on ceiling. To make this a gag, have it found outside and found by someone who tests magic clothing by wearing it. Either they fly off into infinity, or they drop the boots and take falling damage. Armor of Putrid Odor: Take the armor that the most charasmatic character in the party uses, make one with a bigger enhancement bonus, but make it smell of rotten skunk to everyone but the wearer. Let the bath jokes begin. Masterwork Marshmallow Stick: Get a +1 bonus to Roast Marshmallow checks. Never let the PC's have any marshmallows after giving them this. Not an item, but: Bob the Poetry Writing Troll: Rather than fight the PC's, Bob recites poetry to them. Since trolls have low Intelligence and Wisdom, you can tell what the poetry is going to be like. The PC's have to make a Will save or run away screaming and clutching their heads. |
| RDQ03-28-05, 07:57 PM | Use sealing wax on the bindings of someone's PHB. Harmless, but oh-so-time-consuming to remove. Found one problem with this... the guy who just joined was doing models over his books and dripped gorilla glue all over his books. Now get this...the guy has not played in like 3 yrs. and besides getting chewed out for that he got chewed out for mistreating books. Also I found a couple other tricks :plotting: :evillaugh (this is one)all the guys know that for some oddball reason I have a unsatiable(sp?)craving for blood(both in the game and in real life) but refuse to drink it(I manage to resist the urge) so I was thinking about fixing up something (a drink) and using red food coloring to make it look like blood, but I can't think of a drink that would look like blood when dyed red. Any ideas?? |
| Sarella Starshine03-28-05, 08:12 PM | start with a red colored drink so when you do add the red coloring it will be even darker. tomato juice will work the best, since its thick and opaque |
| Cathon03-28-05, 08:25 PM | Our first aid class used corn syrup with red food coloring for blood, but I sure wouldn't want to drink it. What I would suggest is that you mix cranberry or raspberry juice with grape juice until you get the right color (blend in frozen strawberries maybe? I'd experiment ahead of time). If you can figure out some non-disgusting way to thicken it all the better. Put some food coloring, gauze and a roller bandage over your wrist, with some extra coloring around it so it looks like you slashed your own wrist for added effect. |
| Seeker9503-28-05, 09:30 PM | Deflare gets my vote for the best in-game ideas! (What's the intent of red food coloring in the drinks? It won't affect your urine much besides *maybe* adding a slightly orange / dark yellow tint to it.) |
| Bulabase03-28-05, 10:44 PM | DMs can always run a normal seeming gaming session with a really tough random encounter. It ends up with a TPK. "April Fools," and you go on as if it was just a bad dream. |
| RDQ03-29-05, 01:51 PM | Put some food coloring, gauze and a roller bandage over your wrist, with some extra coloring around it so it looks like you slashed your own wrist for added effect. Only prob with that is the guys all now that I would slash my own wrists for blood. Also we need stuff to pull on the real ppl not the characters. Something that will shock them and anyone else that happenes to be around. :evillaugh |
| reese03-29-05, 04:35 PM | Dear Plastik and RDQ... remind me thoroughly and often not to **** you off if i ever have the opportunity to play with you. |
| JMalone03-29-05, 08:18 PM | This is if you are the DM... Have your sanity fray in-game. Screw with the game itself. Insanely kill a PC and babble about how he/she needed to die. Roll a d8 or d10 for some of the d20 rolls and wonder about all the PCs bad luck...add odd anachronisms, and things that never should exist...like a robotic wizard in full plate. Roll a d20 (even better, a D30) constantly, and announce the irrelevent rolls outloud. Have your party fight an insanely powerful monster, that for some reason has already taken 50% of it's HP in damage and has a joke AC. Then have really normal friendly moments. Then give everyone items from your copy of the DMG, etc. Put them in insane danger, and then deus ex machina a way out. Stuff like that. End the session abrubtly, then restart it minutes later. Finally, announce that it was April Fools, and say the entire session was a dream, or some such nonsense. |
| Deflare03-30-05, 01:10 AM | IRL, eh? Hmm... :plotting: Tomato juice mixed with grape juice, while disgusting, should have the right consistency for blood, and possibly the right coloring (never tried it before). Even better, just before they arrive, smear some on your mouth so that it looks like you were scarfing it. Maybe dapple a few spots onto your clothes and surroundings, if you don't mind cleaning up later. If you REALLY want to freak 'em out, get a stuffed animal (as in, killed then mummified), then tear it apart and smear the pseudo-blood on and around it; use pictures of wolf kills for reference. Of course, that's somewhat expensive for a prank, and requires a great deal of cleaning. If you want something simple, randomly strip off your clothes during the session. That should earn you a few odd looks. During downtime while the players talk, doodle little gruesome scenes of the players (not the characters) dying horrible deaths from various monsters. Purchase a set of dice that always land on '1'. Slip them into someone's dice, and enjoy the show. To be fair, reset the encounter when they figure out what's going on. As you can tell, I'm better at in-game pranks than pranks IRL. |
| SnowbearK03-30-05, 01:51 AM | ok...hmmm... Hold a one-shot game where everyone plays monster-type characters, or an evil party, or something similar to that. Introduce their "nameless" adversaries. Allow them to kill their nameless adversaries. Since the goal has been accomplished, announce that you didn't have anything further planned and offer to run the usual campaign. Start the usual campaign with a recap of the one-shot right up to the death of their usual characters at the hands of the nameless monsters/evil ones. Duck, cover. |
| uFiS03-30-05, 04:33 AM | Playing an online DnD game this is what I have done last year ... http://new.prophecy.co.za/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=RPG2&Number=19113 The whole of the cmpaign so far can be viewed at http://new.prophecy.co.za/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=RPG2 |
| Titan W03-30-05, 04:02 PM | To make stage blood form the movies (Which is sweet tasting): Water (1 Cup) (Works with beet juice also) Corn Syrup (1/8 Cup) Red Food Coloring (2-3 Drops) (With beat juice is unnececary) Mix very well and don't allow to seperate before using :-) In addition For Blood Clot looking things: Take 5 red Beets Mash up Add blue food coloring (About 2 Drops) Mix up (Lightly) Take pulp and put it into lumps (Not neat ones) - Warning May turn urine or bowl-movements a blood red color temoraraly Oh yah: Serve red beat juice - they get blood red excrement Oh yah... serve orange juice concentrate w/o the water... they'll either love it or hate it (I personally love it) Lemon concentrate is more potent, but burns lgoing down... I also like it but it's not reccomended... |
| RDQ03-30-05, 07:25 PM | If you want something simple, randomly strip off your clothes during the session. That should earn you a few odd looks. Don't think so concidering a couple of the guys that I play with like me umm ya don't need any of them getting happy in the middle of a game and reese, don't worry depending on my mood it takes a lot to **** me off(notice I said depending on my mood...) |
| Callista03-30-05, 07:58 PM | *laughs* Yep, bit of a problem with that if you've got mixed gender groups, like I do. Illusionists. I LOVE illusionists. You take the illusionist, you give him a really scary monster. Then have him summon up multiple monsters, so the PCs can't run. Try shadow illusions and such, so they look and feel real. And the PCs don't hit them... ever. Then they find out they're illusions... they'll want to kill the illusionist who scared the pants off them. Chances are, he's a gnome. |
| Titan W03-30-05, 08:24 PM | After serving said red beets, whihc inherently die everything they touch red for about a day... regardless of what elese in in the mixture... (ooh rub them on red dice and give them to someone)... tell someone they have something stuck in their teeth, or on their face or whatever, so that if they have ANY of hte juice on thier hands it will get all over them... it's funny to watch, but harmless... don't cook them but peel them, and conviniently forget the silverware... or jsut coat a set of red dice and lend them out to everyone... both work fine... |
| RDQ03-30-05, 10:34 PM | If I do the blood thing it has to be something that looks realistic and doesn't taste really bad 'cus I'd like to be able to drink it. Heck I don't know why I keep checking this I probably won't make it to that session anyways... My dads car was totaled the other day so we have my moms jeep an dad is using it for the week so unless I can get ahold of one of the guys I'm screwed on transportation. :weep: :pbbbtt: I really wanna kill the guy who totaled my dads car (I say kill 'cus he doesn't understand a word of english so I can't chew him out) |
| Deflare03-30-05, 11:31 PM | Don't think so concidering a couple of the guys that I play with like me umm ya don't need any of them getting happy in the middle of a game Meh...? Oh. You're a girl. D'oh. That idea works better for guys; then, most at the table will find it disturbing. ANYWAY. If you can't reach the session, then the smart thing to do is just to pretend that you didn't see the calendar when you walked out the door for the next session. That would be the final April Fool's joke. |
| Seeker9503-31-05, 09:12 AM | That idea works better for guys; then, most at the table will find it disturbing. My gaming group would find this most amusing, and disturbing in different ways. One woman, five men. Two of the men are gay, one is bi. Three go to the same church. All are age 23-36. Despite whatever stereotypes you may hold, the gays in the group would be the least comfortable with the prank: naked is not always pretty. :D |
| Deflare03-31-05, 10:41 PM | ...naked is not always pretty. :D Wiser words have never been spoken. ;) |
| RDQ04-01-05, 05:44 PM | Deflare--ya I'm a chick don't worry bout it though for awhile one guy at school swore up and down I was a guy till I wore my tightest shirt to school and took of my jacket(which I never do at school). The only reason he though I was a guy is because I act like one quite a bit. :D No the guys knew that I couldn't make it today 'cus my dad has the jeep and the guy that would pick me up has to babysit today. |
