Has anyone here ever participated or witnessed a session of D&D where a wager was made (DM or player) and if so, how much was won/lost?

Nothing OOC, at least.

One time a thief I played back in 2E did place an IC wager on whether the party's antipaladin who tried way too much to be hardass could keep a straight face while receiving a :censored: in a spa from a woman who could apparently breathe underwater. Thief's 10 gp said he couldn't, monk took him up on it, thief won. :smirk:

I should have been more clear.

Actually money/commodities wagered between the players

Oh, well I don't think that many people do that as it does count as gambling.

Actualy I have seen enough of it that it doesnt really stand out. But I dont ever remeber anything that really stands out.

I have seen 2 pokergames that where really played out. And a session at a blackjack table. Great way to drain off extra party gold.

Hmmm, OOC gambling would be tricky, you would have to wager on things like whose character can kill the most goblins in the next combat. It woudl all have to be between PCs also, you couldn't wager with the DM.

Player: I bet ya 10 bucks I survive this dungeon.
DM: That'll be ten bucks.

I don't think that GMs should be allowed in these bets.

Obviously the rules would have been long established...and the DM honest(no changing what he already had in mind mid combat, for example), otherwise it won't work.

Yeah or it might be, "As you enter the dark tunnel you hear heavy breathing and a spout of fire hits you doing..." *Rolls a sadistic ammount of dice* "....10,000 damage, now fork over that money."

My friend once bet 1$ that grells aren't immune to lightning.
