I am an avid songwriter. I am also an avid D&D player. The fusion of those hobbies led to my hobby of writing D&D songs.

Here is the first song from my D&D musical, The Grim Kobold.

(to the tune of Smells Like Teen Spirit)
Load up on gear, and bring your guild
It's fun to kill, but not to get killed
I'm overboard and self-assured
But best of all I have a longsword

Hello, hello, hello, attack roll
Hello, hello, hello, attack roll
Hello, hello, hello, attack roll
Hello, hello, hello...

With the light out, you need darkvision
To stab people with precision
To make a precise incision
To stab people, you need darkvision

A hobgoblin, a brass dragon
A dwarf cleric, a bad kraken

And now I am a fireball
And now I am a maximised forcewall
And now I am an archon pharoh
Oh no, I'm mad, I must be a derro

Hello, hello, hello, attack roll
Hello, hello, hello, attack roll
Hello, hello, hello, attack roll
Hello, hello, hello...

With the light out, you need darkvision
To stab people with precision
To make a precise incision
To stab people, you need darkvision

A hobgoblin, a brass dragon
A dwarf cleric, a bad kraken

Post any other songs you have written, or give me suggestions.

ROTFL. very nice.

I am a songwriter myself for two bands. This idea never crossed my mind though. I'll see if I can't come up with something.

I once needed an all-round, pirate-ish song, and finally came up with this:

-”Away in the mountains,
a troll lost his club;
probably mislaid it
while spring-cleaning up.

Well fry me an onion
and bake me an egg;
probably mislaid it
but ey what the heck!

A king had a daughter
that no one would wed;
but then came a dragon
that wanted a pet.

Well fry me an onion
and bake me an egg;
and then came a dragon
but ey what the heck!”

It was quite easy to add strophes when something interesting happened later on:

"There once was this gnome-girl
An orc she had slain;
Pippa the Pink-eyed
and Elf-enemy's Bane!

Well fry me an onion
and bake me an egg;
Pippa the Pink-eyed
but ey what the heck!”

Oooh, to the tune of personal jesus, by depeche mode (or Marlilyn Manson *blech*)

Your own personal Boccob
Someone to hear your prayers
And doesn't particularly care
Your own personal Boccob
Someone to hear your prayers
But isn't there

Et cetera

A D&D cover of "1985" by Bowling for Soup:

Robert hit the wall
He couldn't afford it all
Slaving away every day
Can't even afford eBay
His budget hit the floor
Wife got pregnant in '84
Gaming with his buddy Dan
What happened to his plan?

He was going to own them all
He was going to have a ball
He was going to game all night
Rolling dice 'till Dawn's Early Light
But now he's dependable
It sucks being responsible
Looks at his grown-up life
And nothing . . . has been . . . alright since

Bigby, and Tenser
Way before Elminster
There was Lord Soth, and Dragotha
And even Mordenkainen
His kid's now in college
She tells him that he's uncool
But he's still preoccupied
With 19 . . . 19 . . . 1985

He's played all the classics
He's read every diagram
Temple of Elemental Evil
Keep on the Borderlands
He geeked out on Dragonlance
Not a big Eberron fan
He thought he'd be the man
To play with Gygax and Arneson

Why is there no new Greyhawk modules?
And who's these people going on about d20?
What ever happened to Battle . . . System . . .

On the kitchen table?

There was Bigby, and Tenser
Way before Elminster
There was Lord Soth, and Dragotha
And even Mordenkainen
His kid's now in college
She tells him that he's uncool
But he's still preoccupied
With 19 . . . 19 . . . 1985

He hates time, make it stop
When did AD&D become two versions back?
When in Hell did Drow become the good guys?
Please make it stop - stop - STOP!

And bring back Bigby, and Tenser
Way before Elminster
There was Lord Soth, and Dragotha
Long before Drizzt Do'Urden
His kid's now in college
She tells him that he's uncool
But he can't afford to keep on buying
More and more 3.5!

Necromancer in Black

Well you wonder why i'm always dressed in black
Why you always see some corpses on my back
And why does my appearance seem to have a ghastly tone
well there's a reason for the things that I have on

I wear the black for the weak and the beaten down
Living in their unprotected village towns
I wear it for the blackguards who have long paid for their crimes,
but are there cause they're a victim of alignment

I wear it for those who failed there saves
Or didn't listen to the words that Pelor said
About the road to happiness, without an undead horde
Why you'd think he's talking to liches like you and me

well we're wreaking lot's of havoc, I do suppose
With our hordes of skeletons and fancy ghouls,
but just so we're reminded of the ones who were turned back
Up front there ought to be a mage in black

i wear it for the sick and lonly old
For the reckless ones whose bad saves made the cold
I wear the black in mourning for the souls that have been saved
each week we lose a hundred fine young ghouls

And I wear it for the thousands who have died
believing that Pelor was on their side
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died, believing that their dice were on their side

Well, there's things that will never will be raised I know
And things need animating everywhere you go
But til we start to make a horde, to make a few thing blight
You'll never see me in a suit of white

Ah, I love to wear a rainbow everyday
and tell the world that I'm an archmage
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness off my back
Til things are blighter, I'm the mage in black

I just made that up, so it's going to be a bit shaky

I got one it's short though, and not really that good.

"Caressing elf maidens"
"While trying to save Aden"
"You see yourself Fading"
(Repeat X2)

"As you fall into the Abyss!"
"Did you enjoy the Kiss?"
"Was it really worth the Risk!"

"Now your in the Abyss"............

Ok, another song:

To the tune of “Wake me up when September ends”
The kobold days have gone and passed
The low levels will never last
Wake me up, when this campaign ends

Like an age category will come to pass
Seven adventures went so fast
Wake me up, when this campaign ends

Here comes the rain again
My heart is filled with hope
Maybe D&D will be cancelled
My DM lives on a slope

Like an age category will come to pass
Twenty adventures went so fast
Wake me up, when this campaign ends

Here comes the 10 level mark
How long will this go on
I’m getting tired of this
I suppose I could get out with a con

The kobold days have gone and passed
The low levels will never last
Wake me up, when this campaign ends
Wake me up, when this campaign ends.

"I Buff Myself"
or
"Another Reason I Like Clerics"

(Sung to the tune - rearranged into a verse-bridge-chorus format - of "I Touch Myself")

Adventurers will always come runnin'
At the sight of gold
But I'm the one with wisdom and cunning
No fear of heat or cold

I pick up my shield - it's got my god on it
I put on my helm - there ain't a speck of dirt on it
I pray for strength - as much as a bull's got
I'm as tough as a bear but with less drool and snot

Wizards can blink
The rogue can keep his stealth
When I think of danger
I buff myself
Ohhh --
I don't care, the rogue can keep his stealth
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh...

While my friends are quietly creeping
I'm stomping up behind
If they get hurt, they know they'll get my healing
Even if the fault is mine

I wear full plate - I'm as equipped as a fighter
I **** off the elf - I'm too loud for the blighter
I sound like a mess - yes, the quiet's impeded
I've got no ranks in MS - but then, I don't need it...

Wizards can blink
The rogue can keep his stealth
When I think of danger
I buff myself
Ohhh --
I don't care, the rogue can keep his stealth
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh...

[spoken]
I don't need to be quiet
I don't worry about stealth
For God's sake, I'm a cleric
I'll just buff myself

Ooooohhhh...
[polishes helm]
Oh!
[cleans off shield]
Ooooohhhh...
[inspects holy symbol]
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh --

Wizards can blink
The rogue can keep his stealth
When I think of danger
I buff myself
Ohhh --
I don't care, the rogue can keep his stealth
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh...

blind guardian.

Rawwwrrrr!
The most beautiful line I know comes from one of their songs:

"Proudly it stands
Until the worlds end
The victorious banner of Love"
(The Maiden and the Minstrel Knight)
