I've noticed that in many threads (or among D&D friends), someone always ends up giving D&D stats to fictional characters from all mediums. Well, if we're gonna do that, we might as well do it in a thread for such things, IMO!
So anyway, here are some characters that I think would have the following classes (I haven't included any prestige classes for simplicity's sake, or levels for now, but feel free to do so if you want):

*Riddick: Fighter/Rogue
*Sherlock Holmes: Expert
*Batman: Monk/Fighter/Rogue/Aristocrat/Expert
*Lestat: Aristocrat (with the Vampire Template)
*Robin Hood: Aristocrat/Fighter/Rogue/Ranger
*Indiana Jones: Expert/Rogue/Fighter
*Ghost-face (from the Scream movies): Rogue
*Conan: Barbarian/Rogue
*El Mariachi: Expert/Fighter
*The Punisher: Fighter
*Wolverine: Barbarian/Ranger/Fighter

So if you have any character you want to stat for D&D, here's the place to do it! And by the way, there are many ways to stat a single character, so you can discuss about your opinions, but don't insult anyone because you feel they are wrong.

ooh, can anyone give me actual stats for all of the LotR Characters? I would make them myself, but I wouldn't be very good at it. And while you are at it, Van Helsing and his crossbow would be good!

You'll find many stats for LOTR characters all over the internet, from low-level to epic-level, so you shouldn't have any problem finding those.

As for Van Helsing (the one from the movie obviously, not the one from the 'Dracula' novel), after seeing the movie, I'd say he's a Fighter.

I won't try to stat his crossbow, but I think it's safe to say that it's an exotic weapon, so he'd have to take a Feat to wield it. I'd say the same about his spinning-razors weapon. To use firearms in D&D (in campaigns that allow it), it takes another Exotic Weapon Proficiency Feat, so Van Helsing has 3 Feats only to use his weapons. Since he wielded two razor-spinning weapons (I wonder how those are called...) I'd say he has Two-weapon Fighting. We're up to 4 Feats. I'd also give him the Iron Will Feat, and that's true for ANY version of Van Helsing.

So, as a minimum, he'd be a 4th level Fighter. Iron Will and Firearms at first level, spinning-razors at second level, Two-Weapon Fighting at third level and special crossbow at fourth level. Now I think everyone will agree with me, after seeing the movie, that Van Helsing is a lot more than a Fighter 4. I'd personally say he's epic-level, but that's my opinion. There are probably some Feats that would be great for him in the Ravenloft books, but I've never read them, so I couldn't say. One could say that the priest who follows Van Helsing around (I don't remember his name, and I'd say he's an Expert) means that Van Helsing has the Leadership Feat, but it all depends on if you see that character as an NPC or a PC. To have the Leadership Feat you need to be 6th level at least.

For now it's hard to say, since I've only seen the movie once, so that's as far as I'll go for now in the statting of Van Helsing.

Batman-Fighter/rouge

No matter how you stat Batman, one thing is clear...you cannot stat him in D&D without some Monk classes. I mean, the guy is DC Comics' greatest martial artist! Except for the Batarangs, he almost always fights with his fists! Well, he does use a lot of gadgets, but what he uses the most are his unarmed attacks.

The Expert level I gave him could have been unnecessary, since both Fighter and Rogue classes have the Craft skill, which could reflect the fact that he's an inventor. One can also get rid of the Aristocrat class I gave him because the Bruce Wayne act is fake and Batman's the real person...but still, as the DMG says, one doesn't choose to be an aristocrat, he's born as one, and I really think that before Bruce Wayne became Batman, he was an aristocrat first.

So, after AquateenFlayer's version of Batman, I think I'll get rid of the Expert class, but keep the Aristocrat and Monk. The way I see it, Batman's a Monk/Fighter/Rogue/Aristocrat, with only one level in Aristocrat for story purposes.

I haven't seen the movies, but from what I know about him he could be a Fighter...

Here are two new ones!

*Walker Texas Ranger: Monk
*Steve Urkle: Expert

From The Scorpion King (and assuming we are sticking with core PC/NPC classes):

Matthias (The Scorpion King): Fighter/Rogue. Though he's called an assassin I don't think that's his class.

Memnon (The BBEG): Fighter. Though he was a king, he got there by fighting and maintained his hold by threat of personal violence. Maybe one level of Expert and/or Aristocrat for military tactics and politics.

Cassandra (The Sorceress): Cleric. She couldn't actually cast any spells but could see the future (augury/commune?) and knew healing.

Philos (Crazy scientist dude): Expert.

Conan never casted any spells, so I don't see how he could be a bard. And also, one cannot multi-class with the Aristocrat class unless it's the first class a character takes, and Conan wasn't an Aristocrat at the beginning of his career.

Remember people, it's not because someone is King that he has to take levels in Aristocrat.

That reminds me, using Prestige Classes, I'd add the Lasher Prestige Class from Sword and Fist to my version of Indiana Jones. That would make him Expert/Rogue/Fighter/Lasher.

Anyone can make unarmed attacks. And you'll note that Batman's unarmed fighting is decidedly no-lethal, so there's no need for him to be a monk. He simply has a ridiculously high attack bonus.

I'm a BIG fan of the Batman comic books, and believe me when I say that he COULD kill people with his bare hands, only he choses not to. After all, if he wanted to kill his enemies he'd be more like the Punisher, but that's not the point. Batman has studied hundreds of martial arts styles all over the world during his teenage years and young adulthood. It has been said a lot of times that he is the most skilled martial artist of the DC comics universe. Not only that, but he has taken down meta-human foes with physical attributes that are many times greater than any human being...by striking at their pressure points. How is that not a Monk? Of course, the Adam West version of Batman wouldn't have any Monk levels, but the real Batman does.

You could simply stat him as a Fighter with the Improved Unarmed Strike feat, but that would be an injustice. Now, I agree that Monk isn't necessarily the class he has the most levels in. IMO it is, but it doesn't HAVE to be like that. It could very well be Rogue, since he is very stealthy (even though Monk also has Hide and Move Silently), and using pressure points sounds a lot like Sneak Attack to me. The only thing I am sure of, is that he cannot be statted without Monk levels, at least not the comic book version. The Batman of the movies or t.v shows may be another matter entirely.

Well, it looks like Conan (the Barbarian, not O'Brien!) has already been statted OFFICIALLY in D&D in a previous edition of the game!!! Here is the link to see the cover of the book: http://hyboria.xoth.net/adventures/conan_against_darkness.htm

To see his stats updated to 3E, go to: http://hyboria.xoth.net/adventures/conan_against_darkness_pregen.htm

He's been statted as a Barbarian level 14.

No, definitely a bard. With how bad his show was the first year he must have used Enchantment spells to stay on the air :)

Well, the way I see it, it's not because someone is a great musician that he has classes in Bard. We must not forget that Bard is a spellcasting class, and the Mariachi is no spellcaster. Thus, I gave him levels in Expert to reflect the fact that he's a damn good guitarist.

Also, as we could see in Once Upon a Time in Mexico, either the Mariachi's hand has healed, or he has put new ranks in his Perform skill to be able to play the guitar again.

Some new ones....

*He-Man: Fighter
*Nightwing: Monk/Rogue
*Link: Fighter/Rogue/Bard/Wizard
*Blade: Fighter/Monk
*The Man with no Name: Fighter
*Elektra: Monk
*Daredevil: Monk/Expert
*Ace Ventura: Ranger

*He-Man: Fighter

Errata on that.

*He-Man: Aristocrat/Fighter or Aristocrat/Paladin.

It wouldn't be too far off to consider He-Man a Paladin, especially if you consider the Variant Paladin with no spells of Complete Warrior.

You're right, Ace Ventura is more Druid than Ranger...he's probably a Druid with the Track feat. Okay, so he doesn't have any spelcasting, but I think it's as close as it gets to how the Pet Detective could be statted in D&D.

I've been thinking about how Batman could be statted in D&D, since I'm such a fan and his possible levels have been discussed earlier in the thread. Just as a reminder, I see Batman as an Aristocrat/Monk/Fighter/Rogue, with a single level in Aristocrat because of his origins.

These are some Feats I'd give him:

*Stealthy (D'uh!)
*Investigator (He is among the world's greatest detectives)
*Two-weapon Fighting (It has been said he's ambidextrous)
*Exotic weapon proficiency: Bastard sword (He has been trained in the art of the japanese sword by a master. The default for the Katana in D&D is the bastard sword)
*Iron will (The guy faced Superman, Carnage, the Predator...I say he qualifies for Iron will)
*Skill focus: Intimidate (D'uh! once more)
*Exotic weapon proficiency: Boomerang (Some of his Batarangs are essentially boomerangs, while others are more like throwing knives. The fact that they are batarangs instead of boomerangs and throwing knives is just a special effect.)
*Weapon focus: Unarmed strike (His unarmed strikes are the 'weapons' he uses the most, it is only logical he would take this feat)

Optionally:

*Weapon focus: Boomerang
*Weapon focus: Knife (for the throwing knife, which are known as his batarangs)
*Exotic weapon proficiency: Cape (This one may sound weird, but he has used his cape as a weapon a few times in the comic books. I put this Feat in the optional section because he hasn't used it very often though.)

Batman's from DC... Carnage is from Marvel, unless there was some cross-over I never heard of, I dont' think they've fought

also, I'm pretty sure the throwing knife batarangs were only used in the movies

He does have weights in the end of his cape to hit people w/ though (as well as help throw it out to catch projectiles)

The cross-over you never heard of is 'Spider-Man/Batman', in wich the Joker and Carnage team up to create chaos.

At the end of that story, Cletus Kassady (a.k.a Carnage) loses control of his symbiote (read the story if you want to know why) and Batman easily kicks his sorry behind. Anyway, anyone who looks at Carnage straight in the eyes and picks up a fight against him, without any super-powers at all, HAS to have 'Iron will'.

ok, I stand corrected...

how did they explain these characters being in the same universe?
Hell_Bane

07-05-04, 10:27 AM
how did they explain these characters being in the same universe?

Actually, they don't explain it. It was before the Marvel v.s DC cross-over, so they just assume that all characters are in the same universe. In fact, if you read Marvel v.s DC number 1, you'll notice that the Joker mentions the fact that Spider-Man's changed his costume (he had a different costume because it was Ben Reilly, the clone of Peter Parker), meaning that they had met before (or at least the Joker and the real spidey had met). How it all fits together in continuity is anyone's guess though. Maybe there should be a 'You can have a cross-over with a character who's in another Universe without any explanation at all' Feat. Just kidding.
