Anyone know where I can find a price list for tavern goods (drinks, meals, etc)? Any resources on the web for this? Many thanks.

If the link doesn't work, as a result of that, try doing a search engine search for something like [+inn +meal +ale +srd] (without the brackets) and see whether it helps.

05-28-07, 09:21 PM If you want to go into minute detail, get the Arms and Equipment Guide. It could take your players a while just to order, though, and for some reason no chicken is on the menu.

Edit: Ah, didn't see that you put "online" there. As for online sources, I know of none.

05-28-07, 09:39 PM Thanks guys ... I'm looking for something a bit more specific. The A&E Guide is a good source, but most of the tavern items are by the bulk or bottle. I'm looking for something like a meal list and drinks list ... something like:

Drinks ..................Glass
Feywine ............... 3sp
Bloodwine ............. 2sp

Meals ........................................ ...............Plate
Steak (comes w/ potatoes and veggies) ......... 2sp
Ham (comes w/ bread and gravy) .................. 1sp

I'm mostly looking for something to build off from for my own taverns ;)

Oh ... and it doesn't have to be online :)

05-29-07, 10:22 AM Do you want a full menu to select from - a modern concept in the real-world - or do you want something more authentically Medieval? If the former then go nuts, the sky is the limit. If the latter then essentially you pay a few coppers and get whatever they give you, usually some pork, mutton* or poultry as well as a hunk of bread, maybe some cheese, and a small-beer.**

A full modern-style menu is going to be very expensive as it will require a much larger kitchen and staff, far more ingredients, many exotic, which need to be had fresh every day or somehow, likely magically, stored for a period of time. A menu-style restaurant in a medieval-style setting would be far more like a high-end haute cuisine establishment in the real world - with prices 5 to 10 times what most people consider reasonable - than just some run-of-the-mill steakhouse or fast-food joint.

*Trivia note: the expression "give the cold shoulder" comes from inhospitable hosts giving guests a hunk of cold mutton shoulder to eat rather than a peoper warm meal.

**Small-beer is not normal beer in a small cup, it is a very weak alcoholic beverage made from pretty much anything they could lay their hands on which was the standard drink in much of Europe at the time.
