I agree with that. In my case, I would put DnD right next to sleep in terms of stress release. Oh, how I love sleep. |
| Rumple_Cragstan08-26-05, 05:21 AM | Definately helps me out on boring summer jobs that are long and boring (packing house night jobs, for instance) its a great way to pass the time. And to boot, my players wonder how I come up with these ****ing amazing campaign ideas.... its as if I do nothing but think about ideas for game! However other times (durring school) its not such a good way to get things off your mind lol. Grades tend to slip quickly when you answer a biology question with something out of Draconomicon. |
| Pippa08-26-05, 06:34 PM | I think of d&d all the time. But I get excited, and that's not what you 'd call relaxing. And it does come a bit in the way of school, in my case. What can I say? I'm doomed. |

| Alutras08-26-05, 08:46 PM | Thinking of ideas for characters or campaigns is an excellent way to take your mind off of the monotony of some things in life. And few things are more stress relieving than leaving your life behind and thinking about your character's for a while. I come up with many of my best D&D related ideas while doing other things. Some tasks are just so mindless you can think about something else while doing them. |
| Serielle08-27-05, 01:59 AM | I find that stress utterly kills any creativity I have. D&D is by far the first hobby to go when life starts to go a bit sour. I DM on the fly (don't really play), so a dead creativity means I just sit there while my players stare at my waiting for me to come up with something. D&D very easily compounds stress. |
| Fenris Frost08-27-05, 05:07 PM | Between camps I was home for about 7 days this summer so D&D was not gonna happen. The first game of D&D I'll play this summer will be in about 2 hours from now (Huzzah!). I completely agree on the relaxing bit; It's a great social outlet as well. I don't know if I'm just ultra-pathetic in that I tried rolling rocks at camp to recreate the feeling of dice but hey, I like the clicking sound. |
