| DnD Master158611-02-03, 10:12 PM | I think it was about a year ago when WoTC announed that there was a D&D TV show in the works. What ever happened to it? Just Curious, Dan |
| Northen_Spur11-02-03, 10:36 PM | It got canceled by Fox tv, some woman in Denver called in and complained that D&D was linked with Demon worship and Fox rather than risk controversy made a second joe Millionaire instead. *L* Serious, I din't even know there was a planed series. Was is a cartoon or something à la Xena? |
| DnD Master158611-02-03, 10:39 PM | I don't think it was a cartoon. But I had hoped it was going to be different from those "power ranger" style fights, like in Xena and Hercules. Oh and by the way, did this woman forget to call in to the makers of LoTR and Harry Potter and tell them about their links to devil worship? Dan |

Dan I'd assume she did, but apparently the people who made those movies aren't obsessed with reality TV, and aren't total morons. |

I auctualy had no Idea there was a D&d tv project in the works. So I had no idea why it din't come to pass. |

| bushwak11-02-03, 11:17 PM | actually, harry potter is one of the most challenged books in america (meaning people demand it be removed from library shelves) due to its content. many, many people are afraid it will introduce their kids to the OCCULT. |
| Endarire11-02-03, 11:48 PM | The Church of Satan has a website; if people really want to worship demonic forces, they'll find 'the way' and Harry Potter isn't it. -EE |
| Escef11-03-03, 01:23 PM | I'm trying to remember, but it was before Dragon did away with its 'Current Clack' colomn. There was talk of a D&D series similar to Hercules/Xena, possibly based on Spelljammer. This was befor 3e, so were talking about at least 4 years ago. Unless someone has pitched the idea more recently to a studio and I didn't hear of it. (Which is unlikely the pitch was made, but even if, I doubt I'd have heard of it.) |
| Koga:The ninja trick11-03-03, 03:04 PM | The only way you're going to get past the fundementalist geeks and reality t.v shmucks is to pick a cast for the D&D party that exceeds past judgment, and The Koga has the perfect cast! Playing the part of the evil BoVD obsessed wizard.. Zherog! Playing the part of the chaotic good thief who wants to destory goverment and all it's oppression.. Medesha! Playing the part of the sissy little cleric who just heals people and complains he could be doing so much more.. RMGCLF! Read My Glowing Claw Like Finger.. Playing the part of the drunken dwarf who only lives to hack up villans and get loot.. Boulie_98! And that stupid demi-god everybody hates because he's like JarJar Binks meets Adam Sandler.. The Koga! The main quest of the show? Trying to un-kidnap a diety from an evil diety's clutches. |
| Stardrake11-03-03, 10:54 PM | According to some threads on the old board (in the FR section) a studio did have an option to do a Forgotten Realms-based series. They ended up not doing anything before the option ran out. (Couldn't get financing, I believe). Such is life in TV-land.... |
| TKolhoff11-04-03, 01:00 PM | The last interview on Mortality radio (check on EN World last week) was with RA Salvatore and he spoke about the TV series and all of that. At this time it is a non-event... but there were some intersting comments on it. Check out the interview. |
| Rotipher11-04-03, 01:26 PM | IIRC, some network *did* re-air a few episodes of the original D&D cartoon on Saturday mornings, a few years back. Not sure how long ago that was (but *of course* they chose the period between my old VCR breaking down and my getting a new one... :-(). |
| diaglo11-04-03, 01:32 PM | Rotipher yeah Doc it was Fox. only ran for a month or so tho... |

Of course, given that FOX actually *did* air a few egregiously-bad episodes of that TV spinoff of "Vampire: The Masquerade" -- which tanked so fast and reeked so bad it made FOX's old "Werewolf" cheesefest look like "CSI" -- it may be a *good* thing that D&D never got hashed over the same way! ;-) |
