D&D while traveling? [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-27-05, 02:33 PM I was wondering if anyone out there had devised a simplified or streamlined method for playing. Something that could be played during long rides in the car and such. Punch bug or punch buggy pale in comparison to say... Punch Bubear?... Bugbear...What the heck is a Bubear?!?

12-27-05, 03:10 PM You don't need a "D&D lite" version to play in a car. Just play like normal.
Bring a box to roll the dice in.

12-27-05, 03:21 PM Well if your bored in the car, heres something I do. When I have spare time from dming, I roll up some pcs. I will put them in a dungeon, rolling up monsters and random things to fight and get some treasure. It kills some time. 12-28-05, 02:17 AM I would just use the computer with a downloaded dice roller and the downloaded SRD. If you need a dice roller you can get one here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20040517a) and as you probaby know, the SRD can be downloaded here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35). That would probably make it nice an easy to run an adventure in the car. (Just make sure you aren't driving and DMing....)

12-28-05, 05:43 AM Just run it as normal, without miniatures and grids (this is normal for my group, as we're 2E diehards who happen to play 3.5 at the moment). Roll dice in a box, and ignore stuff like AoO that mean you would need the minis. Focus more on describing the battle rather than using minis. I find that much more rewarding, and it would work in the car.
