| __Slayer__04-24-06, 02:57 PM | So, the SRD is finally on D&D Wiki (http://dandwiki.com) (Thanks to Dmilewski), how does it look? Also, should the errata be incorporated into it? Or is that against something in the OGL? Dmilewski wants it in the SRD (using strikethrough) is this a bad idea? How does the SRD look? Is it helpful/better than some other SRD's? Easier to navagate? Can anything be improved? Please help. |
| hmmmm04-24-06, 03:12 PM | This is a very nice job, it is easy to manage and find what you are looking for. The only problem is that it cant be downloaded like the SRD on Wizards. Fry |
| Kalriem04-24-06, 03:24 PM | Awsome. I was especially glad to see psionics in there. :D |
| AT-AT Assault04-24-06, 05:53 PM | Not to be a naysayer, but isnt there a vastly more extensive, more stylish DnD wiki out there? |
| Seeker9504-24-06, 07:30 PM | There is a general wiki found >>here<< (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_&_Dragons), although it is far more "encyclopedia-like" than what Slayer has put together. |
| __Slayer__04-25-06, 10:21 PM | Thanks! Should I make it so people can download it? Also, what wiki are you talking about? I have not seen any other site that really is like mine yet, so, if you could provide a link, I want to see this... (I hope your not talking about Fixxers (Spelled right?) site). Also, Seeker95, I should have asked you this sooner: Can I please put your Sword of True Striking on D&D Wiki? Hehe.... I'm glad you guys like it :) , and please tell me if having the SRD available for download is a good idea. |
| Clawhound04-26-06, 07:51 AM | If you want to download the SRD, the best place to go is the WotC site. The power of the Wiki is not in downloadability, but in searchability and linkability, and that's where I put the focus on the SRD. I already use it as a primary reference when working on stuff. It is now EASY to find rules info. That much said, I'm working on cleaning up the SRD, then putting that into a PDF format. That's a slow process, as the SRD has many formatting peculiarities. I am also working on the best way to do this project. I am currently leaning towards OpenOffice/PDF format. OpenOffice will strongly enable cut-and-paste, but that come with document size issues). I am certain to do a larger PDF format, which is far better for large documents. As for errata, I started with the most recent version of the SRD, so most of the errata was already in the SRD. It took me an hour or so to add the most recent Polymorph errata. I did most of the converting work with perl. That took out 90% of the repetative tasks. Now that I'm done that part, I'm working on creating appropriate links. Exampe: A reference to the spell ''Protection from Evil'' will be link to that spell elsewhere in the SRD. |
| Seeker9504-26-06, 09:16 AM | Also, Seeker95, I should have asked you this sooner: Can I please put your Sword of True Striking on D&D Wiki?Yes. :D |
| hmmmm04-26-06, 09:29 AM | Hmmmm, I agree, dont bother with the downloading part as it is not intended for that. |
| __Slayer__04-26-06, 02:32 PM | Cool, I guess I will not put the Downloading part on, I must agree that WotC's is good for that... ---- Quote: Originally Posted by __Slayer__ Also, Seeker95, I should have asked you this sooner: Can I please put your Sword of True Striking on D&D Wiki? | DaveReaves04-26-06, 03:33 PM | I really like some of the classes presented here. Good job and keep it up. |
| Mitchell04-27-06, 02:41 AM | Ummm... Babau is misspelled as Babu. :) |
| Amaril04-27-06, 04:12 PM | Where's the psionic aboleth? I like the merging of the different sections of the SRD (Divine with core), but there's something about d20srd.org that seems... I dunno... easier. Maybe the wiki just takes some getting used to. |
| Clawhound04-27-06, 07:10 PM | Fixed the aboleth. Thanks for spotting that. I looked at d20srd.org. You're right, it really *is* better. He did a good job in presentation. His site is far more mature in terms of development. Quite honestly, I'm never going to get the wiki as nice as his site. That's the advantage of him desiging his own site with HTML/all kinds of web goodness. He's put large amounts of work into that site and it shines for it. That doesn't mean that I wasted my time. Having the SRD on the wiki helps the wiki. The more content that the Wiki has, the more traffic it will generate, and the more people we will draw in creating content. Everyone wins that way. |
| __Slayer__04-30-06, 03:08 AM | Another good thing about having the SRD on a wiki is that people can link to it from home-brewed things. I think this is the best use for it. For example, if someone has a spell that says "As Cat's Grace", you can just put a link to the SRD right there, and no searching is necasarry. I think that is the main function... |
