If you intended this to imply that the D&D general is essentially the thread I created, then I suppose essentially it is. However, technically it is not, and therefore this thread is valid and serves a bonefied purpose. The Description of D&D General reads: Dungeons & Dragons: The world's premier fantasy roleplaying game. So the whole board is for what you have said. On an even larger scale, your thread mirrors the purpose of the D&D Boards as a whole. What makes D&D great? Races (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=18) Classes (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17) Skills and Feats (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19) Combat (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=520) Magic (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20) Monsters (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=25) and much more! (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8) Ask some more specific questions, or make some more specific proposals, and you'll be starting a thread that has content we can reply to. Surely there are some specific things you want to know.
Ta'veren 10-01-04, 09:31 PM	Ok, point received. What I wanted was: "What do you love about D&D" or "Why did you begin playing" or "What's the best moment you've ever had (in D&D)." All in all, I wanted the pieces of D&D that makes it the marvelous game it is. So although this idea inherently includes anything on the boards, I was specifically seeking the best of the best if you will, or personal favorites. How's that, would a thread based on the this function properly?

They've been done frequently -- usually every time somebody new decides they want to start an open-ended thread.

If my endeavors are in vain, then perhaps you could point me in the right direction please. :) Just as a side note, I'm doing this b/c I've never played D&D before, so I just wanted to read about the game when the people who love it most start writing about their best moments etc.
Seeker95 10-01-04, 11:08 PM	Rather than using the search function, you can wade through the D&D General Board posts for the past month or two. Read whatever threads strike you as interesting. You'll get tons of insight and info. As for how to play the game... this is best done in person in game. Check out a local gaming store and watch a session or two. Welcome aboard. There are a vocal few (and probably a silent many) who would significantly disagree with that assessment. :D I have rough edges, and they are triggered by some very specific behaviors: 1. Attacks* against WotC. 2. Attacks* against any edition of the game. 3. Attacks* against any of the designers. (see a pattern?) 4. Presenting opinion as if it were fact. Anyway, welcome to the Boards and to the Game. Both are rewarding and fun. *Note, "attacks" are not the same as disagreements with rules, publications, policies or procedures. But many seem incapable of voicing a disagreement without presenting it as an attack.
