12-27-05, 01:12 AM So, what are all your thoughts on the new D&D movie that was released this year? The new movie starred Bruce Payne as Damador once again. It takes place 100 years after the first movie. Bruce Payne's character is the only recognizable figure in the movie, although he does reference Profion once as his former master. What comparisons can you make about this new one over the D&D movie released in 2000. I'd have to say that I enjoyed the newer movie more than the first one, although I did appreciate the first one. Thoughts? Anyone? :cool:

12-27-05, 01:41 AM Obviously, its not the Lord of the Rings movies, but it was much better than the first DND movie (but then a hot poker stuck in the eye might be more enjoyable than the first movie). Furthermore, unlike the first movie which was a chore to sit through, I actually found the second movie enjoyable enough to watch--twice.

12-27-05, 08:37 PM The 2nd DnD movie was enjoyable but not great. Simply put it's a mid-level adventure and some parts were tacky(the barbarian calling the rogue rogue and vice-versa was cheesy - how many people do that in a game) but it was much better than the first movie and it was refreshing in that it was a departure from epic fantasy(notice how three hour movies are becoming the norm or at least more common). You have to appreciate it for what it is but I'd recommend watching it at least once.

The 2nd movie was good and true to the game (which is what i want to see from a D&D movie). I liked it so much I got it on DvD. What would be great of that if they make a D&D series (or Mini series) how they made the movie that is one hour long and 1 season (about 17 episodes) will be a full campaign and next season will be new PCs and maybe even a new world. IT would be perfect

12-27-05, 09:13 PM I liked it, recorded it onto my computer, and come think of it I will watch parts of it again. The rogue was great.

12-27-05, 10:31 PM i started to watch it but was so tired i only cought about 30 mins of it befor i fell asleep :D . tho what i saw was pretty good, and would like to see the rest.

12-28-05, 01:49 PM It's no great shakes, but definately a step up from the last one. The references to the old modules (Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, Lost Caverns of Tsjocatch, Ghost Tower of Iverness) were nice touches.

I still say they need to get Peter Jackson to do the Dragonlance series.
