Edymnion 07-15-04, 03:52 PM	Yes, I have one, they're quite nice. And yes, they are encapsulated in a clear plastic ball. The plastic outter casting has all of the flat sides on it, and the numbers themselves are printed on the colored ball in the middle. I know that makes it sound like it's hard to read, but it really isn't. And no, I have never had any problem with mine, and I've played with it a great deal. If some guy said it broke in two after he dropped it, what did he drop it from, the roof of his house onto the driveway, and then dropped a dictionary on top of it? No, these things are well made, they're easy enough to read, don't roll for very long (they're filled with a sand like substance that sloshes around in there to use up the kinetic energy from the toss so it stops rolling quickly). Well worth the money, much nicer than rolling 2d10. But, two things: 1) You're not supposed to link to sites that sell things from the boards, its against the CoC. Perhaps you can find a link that just shows pictures of the dice? Or, you could simply link directly to the picture of the dice, so that the "BUY ME!" stuff isn't on the same page? 2) $8.00 is too much for these things, I bought mine for $5.00
airhead 07-15-04, 04:05 PM	It was my daughter's first dice. She was about 18 months old. Got her a d100 & a LARGE d6 (3" on a side) She set in her high chair and banged them on her table while we played. Now, she is 16 and still plays, but she has a lot more dice.

Mine broke after 1 hour, when I dropped it from about one foot. I guess some of these aren't as well made as others. I got mine for .50-1 CAD (Can't remember), the store didn't order then but they were shipped anyways, so they just wanted to get rid of them.
SnowbearK 07-16-04, 06:43 AM	Y'know something? I still prefer 2d10, even though I own about 5 of the d100 balls -- well, 4 soon, since one of them is being given to my son for his 5th birthday. He's only been playing with it for the last two years anyways. I've never had one break on me accidentally either...I had to chuck the thing into a cinder block wall to break it. Aside from that and hammers (ok, the aforementioned dictionary might do it too) these things are pretty sturdy. I almost picked up a custom-made steel d20 that's over a foot wide while I was out in California a few weeks ago, but it would never have fit in my carry-on. :( Now I wish I could find the guy's business card.
Tenzhi 07-16-04, 06:55 AM	d100's have a seam around the middle (assuming we're speaking of the zocchihedron variety, and by description it seems we are). Just the right impact on the seam (which generally doesn't take gratuitous amounts of effort) will split it in twain and release the plastic bead filling. Oddly enough, I've done this before, put the beads back in, and snapped it back together only to find that it's nigh impossible to get apart at a later date. You could conceivably use this and a bit of glue as a method of "loading" the die, though the random distribution of numbers so close together doesn't guarantee you'll roll what you want just makes it likely to land in the vicinity of the number you want.
