Changing the name doesn't mean anything and has completly no game effect - except for confusing your players a bit. I fail to understand, however, why you want to do it.

There are a number of d20 games with different names for the abilities. Just don't try to call it Dungeons & Dragons.

You can name things however you like in your game.
If you want Jump to be called "Lift yourself off the ground really really quickly using only your legs as the source of propulsion", go right ahead. Heaven help you when you tell somebody to make a L.Y.O.t.G.R.R.Q.U.O.Y.L.a.t.S.o.P check though...

okay got one more question...
the reason i was thinking of changing the names was because
i was toying with the idea of changing what bonuses go with what attributes.

For expample, there might be:
Physical Strength (bonuses applying to damage and hit points)
Agility (with bonuses applying to melee attacks and AC)
Perception (with bonuses applying to range attacks and maybe initive?)

anyways if i did something like that would there be any problems with calling it d20?
maybe it is too much of pain to fool with though. I just never liked that Strength gave melee attack bonuses...

i noticed i screwed up trying to reply to this thread before so lets see if it happenes again....

Go dig up a copy of 2e's Skills and Powers. It divided the 6 Abilities into 12. It sounds like what you're looking for.
