...nor do it justice.

See for yourself (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_tYjAWTqic) what's presumed of a ninja.

The problem is that different people have different impression of what the word ninja means, not to mention different ideas in how these translate into D20 mechanics. Frankly, I'd consider the rogue class, with or without multiclassing, a pretty decent base for any "ninja" build.

Well people have different ideas about ninja ... there's the Hollywood ninja, the legendary ninja and the traditional ninjutsu martial art. From studying the latter, ninja would be best represented by a monk, maybe a monk/rogue, IMHO. The Ninja class was frankly a great let-down.

Really, though, it's the character concept that matters, not the name ...

Great, great video, (LOL'd)

If he was serious and just added the video for comic relief, well, I do think that ninjas ought to be a class with very different abilities:

* Improved Unarmed Strike
* Exotic Weapon Proficiency (besides the ones already noted in C. Adventurer):
Nekode, Kusarigama, Shuriken, Katana, Shinobigatana
* Skill: Heal

They should also be given the other ability a class had (can't remember) that if a melee attack failed against them, they can attempt a grapple, if they still have AoOs left.

And, at least they didn't give them the Flurry of Blows thing (which, IMO, sucks) because it would've taken even more from the class.

Bah... ;)

Beguiler + Kung-Fu Genius + 1 monk level --> Enlightened Fist

or

Sorcerer + 1 monk level + Ascetic Mage --> Enlightened Fist
