| lord_gillord04-25-07, 11:31 AM | I was asked resently how to calculate the damage of a propane tank exploding. I was thinking of a Fire Trap spell or a Fireball spell (levels adjusted by size of tank) but I do not know what to do for the shrapinal. Anyone have any ideas? |

According to the Larger and Smaller Weapon Damage Table (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#tableLargerAndSmallerWeaponD amage), a tiny weapon that does 1d6 damage, would do 3d8 damage if it were huge. (I am assuming a huge-sized tank, here). So it's reasonable to assume that all-told, an exploding tank will to 12d8 damage to all within a 20' radius. What do you think? |

Find an explosive fire trap of a CR appropriate for the encounter, or build one using the guidelines in the DMG. There's your dammage. |
