The answer is in the errata to the MM.

(Answer: it depends on what material it's protecting against).

Damage reduction is extraordinary unless the weapon property that bypasses the damage reduction is “magic” (as in damage reduction #/magic) or one of the four alignment qualities (chaotic, evil, good, or lawful), in which case it is supernatural. Damage reduction that is bypassed by any other weapon quality that a manufactured weapon could not have without being magical also would be a supernatural special quality.-- Official FAQ (090604) page 26.

• DR X/slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning
should be (Ex)
• DR X/adamantine should be (Ex)
• DR X/-- should be (Ex)
• DR X/silver or cold iron should be (Su)
• DR X/magic should be (Su)
• DR X/chaotic, lawful, holy, or unholy
should be (Su) -- MM errata

(And no, they don't agree.)They don't have to.
Eratta overrides FAQ. Personally, I don't consider it official until it makes it into the eratta.

Eratta overrides FAQ. Ah, yes. "WotC makes mistakes based on carefully laid out rules, and therefore contradictions are hardly ever the cause of unclarity."

I don't consider it official until it makes it into the eratta. The difficulty with this stance is that errata only contains changes that are direct changes in the published rules. The FAQ contains clarifications of rules that may not be explicitly stated or may cause confusion. The errata will not include simply clarifications.

But you are right that the errata overrides the FAQ when they are in contradiction.
