Hello,
I have a qustion about DR in the 3.5ED
let say that one have a DR of 5/slahing
it is obvios that slashong damage will overide the DR but will magic will too,
like magic missile or a fire ball
I ask because it dose not make sense to me that let's say a fireball will not harm a monster like that.

so help me please.
thanks

All forms of magical/energy damage overcomes DR naturally. So, if you have a warhammer that has the flaming property, only the damage from the warhammer gets reduced, the flaming property does not.

Damage Reduction is always only against corporeal sources, like weapons, claws, falling aboses and the like.

Note that complete psi sets a precedent, with some of its powers dealing physical damage, like crystal shard, being subject to dr. But generally, spells automatically bypass dr, even if they appear to be doing physical damage, such as icestorm.
